Bonita (Bonnie) Roby, 66

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at Tracy Lutheran Church for Bonita (Bonnie) Roby. Reverend Stephen Olson and Reverend Gary Gabel officiated. Organist was Richard Stelter.

Casket bearers were Darren Thovson, Rick Ziemke, Duane Van Meveren, Lonnie Horner, Elverne Ziemke and Kurt Enderson.

Bonita (Bonnie) J. Roby was born August 16, 1937 to Oris and Wilma (Jordan) Christiansen in Earlville, IL. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young girl Bonnie moved with her family to Marshall, MN where she attended public schools.

In December of 1954 Bonnie married Donald Roby in Marshall and the couple made their home on a farm in rural Cottonwood, MN. In 1970 they moved to Tracy, MN and in 1982 Bonnie moved to Council Bluffs, IA.

Bonnie worked as a mother and housewife for many years until her move to Council Bluffs where she began work in road construction. She enjoyed going to rummage sales, crocheting and working on her family tree. Bonnie was also an accomplished seamstress and made clothing for her children. But what she really excelled at was being an excellent mother.

Bonnie died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 in Council Bluffs, IA at the age of 66.

She is survived by three sons; Jesse (Julie) of Tracy, MN, Ronald (Barb) of Iowa Falls, IA and David of Tracy, MN; one daughter, Doranne Kohn of Underwood, IA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra Gibson of Omaha, NE and Brenda Forristall of Council Bluffs, IA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, two grandsons, Matthew and Eric precede her in death.

Interment was in Tracy City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.
