Faye Von Bokern, 72
Services for Faye Von Bokern, age 72, were held Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tracy, Minnesota. Officiants were Father Brian Mandel and Father Jerry Meidl. Organist was Shannon Benson. Special music was provided by St. Mary's Church Choir. Cantor was John Schleppenbach. Readers were Katie Christianson and Cole Christianson. Casket bearers were Glenn Surprenant, Dr. Earl Hunter, Duane Peterson, Dick Maertens, Cole Christianson and Luke Christianson. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Tracy.
Faye Von Bokern was born May 3, 1932 to Rudy and Velda (Reese) Meyer in Fairmount, ND, Richland County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Fairmount and attended Fairmount Public Schools, graduating from Fairmount High School as Salutatorian of her class.
In 1951, Faye married Dr. Jack Von Bokern in Fairmount. They made their home in Tracy, MN until the mid- 1980's when they moved to Lake Shetek just outside of Tracy.
Faye believed it was important to give back to her community and she was passionate about causes and organizations she believed in, and she gave generously of her time. She was a volunteer charter member of the Tracy Municipal Hospital Auxiliary, serving on the board for eight years, unit chairman of the hospital Auxiliary for five years, a six gallon donor at the Tracy Red Cross bloodmobile, an organizer and regular volunteer for the Tracy Ecumenical Food Shelf and an active volunteer and scheduler for meals on wheels. She served on the organization committee for the Tracy Hunger Walk for three years, chaired the Daffodil Day for Lyon County Cancer Society for ten years and was past president of the Tracy Campfire Girls. Faye was a member and past president of the Tracy Ecumenical Church Council for fifteen years, assisted in establishing two refugee families through the ECC and was an organizer of a support group for the widowed and divorced. Faye and Jack hosted three AFS students and Faye was a member the AFS committee since 1980. She was also a member of the American Optometric Auxiliary and served as its secretary/treasurer for two years. Faye's contributions to her community were recognized when she was awarded the Tracy Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1991. Faye was currently serving as a Board member of the Tracy Area Medical Foundation.
Faye had a deep religious belief and her faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and volunteered in many capacities over the years, including singing with the church choir for 30 years. Faye loved playing Bridge, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, traveling and her daily 3 mile walk.
On Friday, July 16, 2004, Faye died at her home at the age of 72. Faye is survived by her husband, Dr. Jack Von Bokern of Tracy, MN; one son, Gregory (Judy) of Seattle, WA; two daughters, Renee Von Bokern and husband, Robert Reid of Des Moines, IA and Paige (Tony) Christianson of Wayzata, MN; six grandchildren, Katie, Cole, Luke, Willie, Robert and Andrew; one sister, Darlene Vanek of Hopkins, MN; nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Her parents, one sister, Marilyn Ferris and one brother, Arnold "Dutch" Meyer preceded her in death.

Henry J. Nelson, 77
Henry James Nelson was born on February 23, 1927 to Robert J. and Edna (Brown) Nelson, in Gales Township, Walnut Grove, MN. Henry passed away on July 10, 2004 in Denver, CO.
He attended rural country school. Henry served in the United States Army. He farmed with his father, brother and uncle until moving to Denver, CO in the late 1950's. While in Denver he worked for the United States Postal Service and was a Denver city bus driver.
On September 1, 1973 Henry was united in marriage to Annabelle Daniel. He was a member of New Life Fellowship Church. Henry was a very caring, gentle and humble man. He had a strong Christian faith and was a very patriotic man towards his country. His family was very important to him and he always loved animals, one of his special pets was a dog named Brownie. Henry also took pride in every vehicle he ever owned, keeping them clean and spotless at all times. To all those who loved him, he was a perfect example of humility, sincerity, honesty and goodness in a human being. Blessed be his memory.
Grateful for having shared his life his survivors are his wife Annabelle of Denver, CO., sister Olive Bangasser of Tracy, MN, sister Catherine (Darold) Short of Newport, MN, sister-in-law, Alice Nelson of Mesa, AZ, seven nieces, Connie (Wayne) Meyer, Eden Prairie MN, Carol (Ronald) Dahl, Currie, MN, Marilyn (Charles) VanHeel, St. Michael, MN, Linda (Arthur) Rogers, Tracy, MN, Julianne (Roy) Stachmus, Gold Canyon, AZ, Brenda (Juergen) Ankert, Mesa, AZ, Sandra (Terry) Most, Prescott, WI and one nephew, Gary Short, West Palm Beach, Fl; great nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Edna Nelson, sister, Joyce Grinde, brother, Robert W. Nelson, brother-in-in-law, Olando (Ole) Grinde, brother-in-law, Lester Bangasser and nephew, Bruce Bangasser.
Funeral services were held Tues., July 13, 2004 at New Life Fellowship Church in Denver, CO with Pastor Keith Sorensen officiating. Memorial services were held at Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy on Thurs., July 15, 2004 with Pastor Homer Dobson officiating. Interment was at Tracy City Cemetery.
