Delores Swenhaugen, 70

Last rites for a Tracy native were conducted in Spokane, WA, December 2.

Delores Swenhaugen, 70, died November 27, 1999. Services were conducted by the Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home of Spokane. The homemaker and antique dealer lived in Spokane for 43 years. Her husband, Orville, died in 1993. Her parents were George and Ida Engles, who also lived in Tracy.

Survivors include eight children: Terry, Dianne, Nanci, Scott, Roxy, Perry Sr., Shelly and Jody, all of Washington state or Idaho; two sisters: Eilleen Engles and Wannita Rose, both of Washington state; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lillian M. Moore, 66

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 13, 1999 for Lillian M. Moore at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Loveland, CO. Reverend David Feeder officiated.

Lillian M. Moore was born August 19, 1933 to Henry and Anna (Knutson) Dahl in Shetek Township, Minnesota. She attended grade school in rural Minnesota and graduated from Tracy High School. She was a graduate from the Lar Co. Vo-Tech Nursing Program in Ft. Collins.

On August 22, 1951 she married Rolland Moore in Currie, MN. She lived in Tracy, MN until 1961 when she moved to Loveland, CO.

She worked as a nurse for Sierra Vista Health Care Center for over 30 years. She also taught and trained nurses.

She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her family, gardening, camping, wildlife, crocheting and knitting. She spent most of her life as a care giver, and donated a lot of time care giving and enjoyed spending time with her children.

Lillian passed away on December 7, 1999 at North Colorado Medical Center at the age of 66.

She is survived by her husband, Rolland, Loveland, CO; three sons Douglas and Beth, Vilonia, AR, Bradley and Janie, Berthoud, CO, Jeffrey and Kerri, Loveland, CO; one daughter Kathy Moore of Loveland, CO; two brothers, Herb and Gail Dahl of Currie, MN, Ronald and Carol Dahl of Currie, MN; sisters Carol and Gerald Thor of Comfrey, MN, Muriel and Loren Richardson of Tracy, MN; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Linda and Nancy Moore.

Florence L. Buysse, 78

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, December 14, 1999 for Florence L. Buysse at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall, MN. Father Gerald Meidl officiated.

Florence Louise Buysse was born at Ghent, MN on March 26, 1921 to Edward and Pauline VanDenBroecke DeBaere. She attended country school near her home.

On February 15, 1944 she married Gustaff Buysse. They farmed south of Marshall until Gus entered military service. Florence worked for Swift & Co. until his return when they returned to the farm. They farmed in Lake Marshall Township until retirement in 1983. They built a retirement home there in 1987.

Florence was a member of the Happy Hour Card Club, MCCW and worked on the funeral lunch committee. She enjoyed quality, baking her home made bread and her family.

Florence passed away on Friday, December 10, 1999 at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center at the age of 78.

She is survived by her husband Gustaff of Marshall; three daughters, Elaine (Robert) Olin, Lynd, MN, JoAnn (Thomas) Meier, Papillion, NE, Diane (Butch) Seidl, Sedalia, MO; four sons Larry (Bonnie) of Tracy, MN, Steven (LeeAnn) of Marshall, MN; Douglas (Darla) of Cottonwood, MN, Charles (Cheri) of Marshall, MN; one brother Eugene DeBaere of Gilbert, MN and one sister Victoria Fargher of Worthington, MN; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son James, four brothers and two sisters.

John W. Hofrogge, 84

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 18 at the former Luthern Church in Revere for John W. Hoffrogge. Pastor Espeland will officiate. Francis Harnack American Legion Post 582 will hold a military service. Interment will be in the Lamberton Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 5, 1915 in Calhoun Co., IA the son of Wilhelm G. and Johanne (Deling) Hoffrogge.

The family moved to a farm in Johnsonville Twp., Redwood Co., MN in 1918. In 1920 the family moved to a farm in North Hero Twp. He attended school in Revere.

John was baptized Jan. 9, 1916 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yetter, IA. He was confirmed July 9, 1933 at the Revere Luthern Church.

He worked as a farm laborer in Minnesota and South Dakota. Later he went to Washington State. There he worked as a mechanic. Eventually he came to Huntington Beach, CA where he operated a gas station. He was drafted into the Army in 1942. He was stationed in England where he was in charge of maintenance of equipment. He returned to Minnesota after his discharge. He again went West and since 1974 he was caretaker of a mountain home on Breckenridge Mt.. Kern Co., CA by Bakersfield.

He died Nov. 20, 1999 at Bakersfield, CO.

He is survived by a sister Lena (Wilbert) Dahne, Minnie (Glen) Kronback of Lamberton, Helka Gunder of Windom, Marie (Shirley) Flesner of Tracy, Margaret (Spencer) Flesner of Phoenix AZ and Elfrieda (Luverne) Carlson of Garvin; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Willie, Remmer, Henry and Herman who died in WWII, sister Ann Pederson, and a sister and brother in infancy.

Magdalene Bruland, 72

Services were held Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Frost, Minnesota for Magdalene M. Bruland. Ministers were Rev. Patricia Hinkie and Rev. Ed Nieman.

Magdalene Margrete Almlie was born February 19, 1927 to Hans P. and Marie (Haaland) Almlie at Bricelyn, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church.

Magdalene attended Bricelyn schools and graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1944. She then attended and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Ia. in 1948. Magdalene was on the faculty at Luther College for a time before going on to the University of Michigan where she received a Master's Degree in Library Science. She was on the faculty at Ball State College in Michigan and then moved to Bellingham, Wa. where she was on the faculty for several years at Western Washington State University.

Magdalene was married to Christian Bruland in 1958 at Bethany Lutheran Church. While her husband was a student at Luther Seminary in St. Paul she worked in the library at the seminary. They served parishes in South Dakota and Chinook, Wa. After their move to Washington she began working at Clatsop Junior College in Astoria, Oregon, a position she held until her retirement four years ago.

The past two years she has been a resident of the Host House in Astoria suffering from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

She died on Friday, December 3, 1999 at the age of 72 years.

Magdalene is survived by one son, Craig and wife, Laura of Haines, Or.; one daughter, Andrea Bruland of Boise, Id.; one grandson, Shan of Haines, Or.; one brother, John Almlie and wife, Lucille of Tracy, Mn.; one sister, Sylvia and husband Paul Ranum of Starbuck, Mn.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Interment was at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery with Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.

Eunice M. Anderson, 69

Services were held on Friday, December 10, 1999 for Eunice M. Anderson at the Skandia Evangelical Free Church in Balaton, Minnesota. Pastor Ken Culbertson officiated with Rachel Culbertson as organist and Will Lundy as soloist.

Casket bearers were Todd Miller, David Ertz, Fran Lawson, Daniel Ertz, Lewis Miller, Jr. and Robert Ertz.

Eunice Mae Anderson was born May 7, 1930 to Jens and Doris (Hokins) North in the rural Ruthton area, Lincoln County. She attended country school and also the Ruthton public school. As a young woman, Eunice worked in a cafe in Ruthton as a waitress.

On January 11, 1953 she married Theodore G. Anderson at Hope Lutheran Church in Ruthton. They made their home on the Anderson family farm in Skandia township. Eunice remained on this farm after Ted's death in 1993 until she died on Sunday, December 5, 1999 at the age of 69.

Eunice was a member of the Skandia Evangelical Free Church and was also a member of the Women's Missionary Society at Skandia. She enjoyed embroidery and gardening, but will be remembered for her hard work along with her husband on the farm.

Eunice is survived by two daughters, Linda and her husband, Danny Archibald of Colorado Springs, CO and Julie and her husband, Lew Roberts of Sioux City, IA; four grandchildren, Brett, Justin, Melissa and Tyler; three brothers, David of Fairmont, MN, Melvin of Janesville, WI and LeRoy of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Iola Broin of Willmar, MN and Mary Ann Ertz of Ruthton, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, husband, Ted, one infant daughter and one brother, William preceded her in death.

Interment was at Skandia Cemetery with Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton handling arrangements.

William Edwards, 94

Funeral services for William Edwards, 94, of New Hope, MN, formerly of Tracy, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999 at the Tracy Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at the Tracy City Cemetery. Visitation at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15 and at the church one hour prior to services.

Officiant is David Erickson with Allen Pierson as organist and Sarah Looby as soloist.

Casket bearers are Don DeBlieck, Duane DeBlieck, Dale DeBlieck, Dave Edwards, Gordy Edwards and Darold Edwards.

William E. Edwards was born July 28, 1905 in Cambria, Minnesota to John and Elizabeth (Evans) Edwards.

On June 8, 1927, he married Blanche M. Allumbaugh. During their marriage of 66 years they lived in Tracy, Miltona and Brooklyn Park and wintered in Pine to Palm, Weslaco, TX for 26 years.

Bill was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Blue Lodge for over 55 years, on the Tracy Fire Dept. for 30 years and a 36 year employee of the Mobil Oil Company.

Bill died on December 11, 1999, at the grand old age of 94 at the Northridge Care Center in New Hope, MN.

Bill is survived by his son and family, Jim and Nona Edwards, Susan & Michael Loony, Sarah & Christopher, Bruce & Debra Edwards, Kirsten & Ryan Olson, and Alex, Elizabeth and Jeremy Briggs, and Bryce, Nancee & Jeff Fryberger, Lindsey; one daughter and family, Dolores and Dave Luikart, Tim & Jennifer Luikart and Jake, Jeff & Denise Luikart and Jessica & Laiklyn; two sisters, Jean Dorsey of California and Ethel DeBlieck of Kasson, MN; nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Almlie Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Death Notice

Minnie Sass, 96, of Tracy, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999 at her home.

Visitation is schedule for Thursday, Dec. 16 from 4-8 p.m. at the Almlie Funeral Home. Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be on Friday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. at Tracy Lutheran Church.
