Darlene DiCosimo, 79

Services were held for Darlene DiCosimo, 79, on May 6, 2000 at the Catholic Church in North Hollywood, CA. She passed away on May 2, 2000.

She was the daughter of Christ Bisgaard and Ella Bisgaard Olson.

Survivors include two daughters, Doriann, Nancy and husband; son Augie; and one granddaughter; one sister, Donna Gullickson of Walnut Grove and one brother, Bob Bisgaard of Dayton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one son-in-law.

Doris Gordon, 65

Services were held for Doris Gordon, age 65, on Friday, May 5, 2000 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Tracy. Doris passed away on May 2, 2000 at the Tracy Hospital.

Pastor Norman B. Madson officiated with special music by Don Cohoon and David Mix. Organist was Amanda Madson. Casket bearers were Allen Gordon, John Haensel, Jimmy Gordon, Jerry Haensel, Randy Gordon and Terry Gordon. Interment was held at Willow Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Service of Tracy and Walnut Grove handled the arrangements.

Doris L. Gordon was born November 10, 1934 at her parents farm in Murray County, near Currie, MN. She was the daughter of Sigvart J. and Agnes (Severson) Gordon. She received her schooling at home. She has made her home in Tracy for many years. She worked at DAC in Tracy and Marshall.

Doris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy and Ladies Aid. Doris enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives and she had a very infectious smile. She was a very loving sister.

For the last few years, she was a resident of Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.

She is survived by one brother, Lowell Gordon of Fairmont, MN; two sisters, Mrs. Lois and Don Cohoon of Sioux Falls, SD; Judy Gordon of Tracy; one sister-in-law, Betty Gordon of Tyler, MN; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Manley; one sister Dorothy.

Joseph C. Johns, 67

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 4, 2000 for Joseph C. Johns at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy. Minister was Rev. Homer Dobson.

Honorary bearers were Merle Mickelson, Greg Lanoue, Frankie Hemish, Don Roby, Alex Florest, Dan Lanoue, Pat Peterson, Loren Ludeman and Frank Voges.

Joseph Charles Johns was born September 3, 1933 to Herbert and Neva (Meinzer) Johns in Lyon County, Tracy, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and attended District 23 country school and graduated from Tracy High School in 1951.

He married Rose Rogge, they resided in Lyon County where they raised their children. Joe worked road construction for a few years. He then came back to farm and did custom work for many area farmers. He also sold farm chemicals with co-partner Alton Prouty under the name Pro-John Chemicals back in the late 70's and 80's. After retiring from farming, he continued to help Greg and Dan Lanoue with their farming operation until the present time. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, deer hunting and spending time with his friends.

Joe passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2000.

Joe is survived by three sons, Gary (Jolynn) Johns, Tracy, MN; Brad Johns, Marshall, MN; Kelly Johns (Christey Myers) Sioux Falls, SD; two daughters, Deb (Duane) Thorpe, Hutchinson, MN; LoAnn (Tim) Dale, Hanley Falls, MN; 12 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law Beverly Ludeman (Loren), Minnesota Lakes; special friends, Shari Polzine, Donna and Pat Peterson, Casey Polzine and Jacob Peterson of Tracy, MN, Missy and Kirk Whiting and family of Bloomington, MN; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother.

Interment was at Tracy City Cemetery with Almlie Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Kathryn Leysen, 82

Services were held for Kathryn Leysen, age 82, on Wed., May 10, 2000 at the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton. Kathryn passed away on May 7, 2000 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.

David Erickson and Rev. Everett Hind officiated. Organist was Alice Magnus. Soloist was Lori Oeltjenbruns. Pallbearers were Larry Leysen, John Leysen, Monty Leysen, Mark Ahlschlager, John Larsen, Kevin Doppenberg, and Brian Knochenmus. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Cochran, Ralph Cochran, Bill Leysen, George Miller, Errol Peters and the Buss Boys. Interment was held at Slayton Memorial Gardens. Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton was in charge of arrangements.

Kathryn Leysen was born on April 4, 1918 at Rushmore, MN to George and Sarah Muller Tuin. She grew up in Little Rock, IA area and attended country school. In 1930 the family moved to Slayton. On January 9, 1940 she and Henry Leysen were married at Rock Rapids, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Slayton and Currie areas until their retirement in 1976. Kathryn worked as a LPN, first at the Home Hospital and then at Murray County Memorial Hospital for almost 30 years. She was very dedicated to her work. They continued living on the farm north of Slayton until they became residents of the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN in April 1998. Henry passed away in September 1999.

She was a member of the Currie Presbyterian Church, Ladies Aid and Circle. She belonged to a card club, Murray County Extension Club and the LPN Nursing Association. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing, playing games and visiting with her neighbors, friends and family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three children and their spouses: Larry and Marilyn Leysen of Slayton, MN, Lee and Jan Leysen of Tracy, MN and Linda and Mike Ahlschlager of Iona, MN; seven grandchildren: Marni Larsen, Larry Alan Leysen, John Leysen, Monty Leysen, Mindy Knochenmus, Sherri Doppenberg, and Mark Ahlschlager; nine great-grandchildren: Kristina, Michelle and Tyler Larsen, Jennifer and Sara Leysen, Hunter and Logan Leysen, and Wesley Leysen, and Olivia Knochenmus; sisters, Renzle Miller of Slayton, Tena Buss of Rochester, MN, and Hermina and Bill Leysen of Slayton and a sister-in-law Margaret Mangledorf of Slayton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; three brothers, Harm, Fred and George Tuin; and a sister, Anna Haken.

Paul Rasmussen, 37

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2000 for Paul J. Rasmussen at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove, MN. Celebrant was Fr. Brian Oestreich with Maydra Maas as pianist and music by Roger Baumann and Kerry Knakmuhs.

Honorary bearers were Todd Gilb, Steve Hansen, Bob Kirsh, Gregg DeSmith, Mike Anderson, Brad Snyder, Greg Hall and Scott Truedson.

Casket bearers were Curt Rasmussen, Dean Rasmussen, Brian Rasmussen, Andrew Rasmussen, Mark Schmiesing, Sean David Doyle, Robert Barker, Mitchell Menken, Kip Rasmussen and Tom Halter.

Paul James Rasmussen was born February 21, 1963 to Robert and Esther (Menken) Rasmussen at Tracy, Minnesota. He attended Walnut Grove public schools and graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1981. Paul was baptized into the Christian faith at Johnsonville Lutheran Church and reaffirmed his faith in the Rite of Confirmation at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. He attended church services with his family at St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Paul was married to Victoria Lynn Dallenbach on November 10, 1984 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. They made their home on the family farm. Paul enjoyed farming and always was working towards using the newest farming technologies and choosing what worked best.

Paul enjoyed spending time with his children and attending their activities, being with friends and making bets with them, watching NFL football and car racing on television, reading and driving fast. He also was there to help wash dishes at church activities.

Paul was diagnosed with cancer and he dealt with his illness with courage and faith. He died on Saturday, May 6, 2000, at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall, at the age of 37 years.

Paul is survived by his wife, Vicky, his children, Amanda, Anthony, Allison and Amber; parents, Robert and Esther Rasmussen of Walnut Grove; one brother, Dennis of Walnut Grove; two sisters and their husbands, Rose Marie and James Schmiesing of Lucan and Cathy and Terry Ochs of Lamberton; mother and father-in-law, Richard and Cathy Dallenbach of Walnut Grove; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Kathy Dallenbach of Bird Island; sister-in-law, Valerie Dallenbach of Phoenix AZ; his wife's great-grandparents, Eugene and Virginia Regnier of Dovray; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

His grandparents, aunts, Joy and Glee; and a great niece, Chazine Jo Towne preceded him in death.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Walnut Grove, MN with Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.

The family requests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society, his children's College Fund at the Tracy State Bank or the local Food Shelf.
