Bertha Datwyler, 81

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, June 19, 2000 for Bertha Ann Datwyler at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy. Fr. Merle Monnens was celebrant along with Sr. Rosine Kaminski, Pastoral Administrator.

Casket bearers were Andrew Datwyler, Kim Datwyler, Brent McDonough, Troy McDonough, Rachel Goodmund, Jeffery Goodmund and Derrick Lemburg.

Bertha Ann Datwyler was born March 28, 1919 on a farm in New Avon Township, Redwood County, MN. Her parents were Anton and Barbara (Schottenbauer) Thomas. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clements, MN. Bertha attended District #101 country school.

Bertha was united in marriage to Brainerd Datwyler on June 1, 1948 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Milroy. The couple settled on a farm in Westline Township where they lived for 48 years. The couple farmed until 1973. Bertha then bought the grocery store in Milroy. Bertha and Brainerd ran the store until they retired due to health problems in 1987. Brainerd died November 11, 1996, Bertha then moved to O'Brien Court in Tracy, MN and has resided there until the time of her death. Bertha was very active in the Milroy Legion Auxiliary, Sewing Club and in activities at O'Brien Court.

On June 14, 2000 Bertha Ann Datwyler died at the Tracy Hospital in Tracy, MN at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 15 days.

She is survived by four children with their spouses: Donna Jean and husband Larry McDonough of Inver Grove Heights, Tom and wife Barbara Datwyler of Shakopee, Jerold and wife Susie Datwyler of Milroy, and Brenda and her husband Leslie Butler of Vesta. Six grandchildren, Andrew Datwyler, Kim Datwyler, Brent and Heather McDonough, Troy McDonough, Rachel Goodmund, Jeffery Goodmund and three great-granddaughters, Emily, Erin and Jillian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Mathias and Ray, and two sisters, Marcella and Mary.

Interment was at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Milroy, MN with Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls, MN handling arrangements.
