Hazel Lintner, 81

Funeral services for Hazel Lintner, 81, of rural Dundee are set for Thursday, Oct. 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dovray. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre, MN at 4 p.m.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Westbrook, MN. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church, one hour prior to services.

Hazel A. Lintner died at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, MN on Monday, October 16, 2000.

Westbrook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published next week.

Thomas Brown, 53

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 17, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault for Thomas E. Brown, of Waterville. Mr. Brown died on Friday, October 13, 2000 in LeSueur County.

Thomas E. Brown was born October 29, 1946 in Northfield, the son of Claude and Marie (Mulcahy) Brown. He attended school in Northfield and graduated from the Waseca School of Agriculture in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1969 aboard the U.S.S. Boxer. Following his discharge he attended the Faribault Area Vocational School and did construction work.

He married Linda Wallgren in June of 1971. Following their marriage he farmed in the North Morristown area until 1990 when he started Tom Brown Construction. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault.

He is survived by his mother Marie Brown of Dundas; five daughters Mayme Brown and fiancee Niels Ackermans of Holland, Tammy Peach and husband John of Waterville, Ens. Christa Brown of the U.S. Navy, Linda May Brown and Kraig Lund of Eagan, and Midshipman Katie Brown of Minneapolis; two grandchildren Isaac and Hattie Peach of Waterville. He is also survived by special friend Cheryl Swedin of Faribault; her children Brenda Enright and her husband Tyler, Diana Petricka, Tina Petricka, Tony Petricka and Jennifer Petricka and grandchildren Devin and Derek Kopperud and Madeline, Hannah and Maxwell Enright. He is also survived by three brothers, C. Patrick Brown and his wife Maxcine of Faribault, Dennis Brown and his wife Mary Ann of Dundas and Dr. Richard Brown D.D.S. of Tracy, one sister Dr. Kathleen Brockway and her husband Dr. William Brockway of Tracy; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Claude Brown.

Interment was at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault with Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home of Waterville handling arrangements.

Newell Hill, 80

Newell “Mac” Hill, 80, of Willmar died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000 at Bethesda Heritage. Memorial services will be held at a later date with interment at Bethel Cemetery, rural Garvin, MN. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home of Willmar, MN.

Newell McDavid Hill was born on February 3, 1920, at Hillsboro, IL, the son of Newell Hannibal and Emma Marie (McDavid) Hill. He grew up in the Hillsboro area where he attended school.

On August 9, 1947, Newell was united in marriage to Catherine Luella Jones at Jacksonville, IL, this union was blessed with three daughters. They lived in Springfield, IL, Garvin, MN, Igloo, SD and Slayton, MN prior to moving to Willmar. (They have lived at 405 Lakeland Drive, Apt. #5, Willmar, MN 56201). At the age of three months, Newell was diagnosed with Bulbar Polio, which left him handicapped. Over the course of this life he tried many different jobs. Had he grown up today with the programs available to handicapped people, he may have been able to find his “nitch”. As it was, life was a struggle for Newell when it came to employment.

Newell was baptized at Hillsboro, IL at the Methodist Church and attended Hope Presbyterian Church, Spicer at the time of his death.

He was a ten-gallon donor to the Red Cross, a member of the Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Barbershoppers in Murray County and Willmar. He was elected “Barbershopper of the Year” in Slayton.

Surviving is his wife, Catherine J. Hill; daughters Linda Edell and her husband Earl Wolfe, of Coral Springs, FL; Deborah Hill, Atwater; and Barbara (and James) Christensen, New London; three grandchildren, Dean M. Hanapel and his wife Kim, Shad J. Christensen and Jessica Christensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Lucille Makovsky, 88

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 15, 2000 for Lucille Makovsky of Tracy, MN. Pastor Norman Madson officiated with Amanda Madson as organist and Tom Hook soloist.

Honorary casket bearers were Staci Nelson, Brandon Nelson, Ryan Makovsky, Kyle Makovsky, Laura Nelson and Blake Nelson.

Casket bearers were Sam Mickelson, Stanley Severson, Jr., Dale Scott, Eugene Hook, Frank Hemish and Darrell Scott.

Lucille A. Makovsky was born on September 25, 1912 on the family farm in Murray Co., MN the daughter of Roy and Alma (Knutson) Shaw. She received her formal education in country schools in Holly Twp., Murray Co., MN after the eighth grade she stayed at home and helped raise her brothers and sisters.

She was united in marriage to Leo Makovsky on January 21, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Walnut Grove. The couple has made their home in the Tracy area since.

Lucille was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. She loved the Twins and baseball in general. She and Leo enjoyed dancing and old time music. She also loved gardening and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Lucille passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at the Tracy Nursing Home where she has resided for the last 11 years.

She is survived by one son Terry and his wife Leslie of Windom, MN; one daughter, Diane Nelson of Marshall; four grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Makovsky of Windom, MN, Brandon Nelson and wife Laura of Shakopee, MN, Staci Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN and one great-grandson, Blake Nelson of Shakopee, MN; her stepmother Hazel Shaw of Tracy, MN; two sisters, Verna Severson of Westbrook, MN and Linda Shaw of Tracy, MN; five brothers, Clinton, Curtis and Kenneth Shaw all of Tracy, MN, Robert Shaw of Gilbert, AZ, Lee Shaw of Marshall, MN; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1987; a brother Chester and an infant brother and a sister Ruby Mickelson.

Interment was at the Tracy City Cemetery with Jacobson Funeral Service handling arrangements.
