Martin L. Krentz, 81

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove, for Martin L. Krentz. Pastor Terri Skildum officiated with Janice Carter as organist.

Casket bearers were LeRoy Harnack, Loren Mentjes, Dennis Hansen, Jack Van Gelderen, Mike Wahl and John Doubler.

Martin Leroy Krentz, age 81, died November 3, 2000. He was born May 31, 1919 in Anselm, North Dakota to John and Gertrude (Buss) Krentz, one of nine children. He graduated from Sheldon, North Dakota High School in 1937 and moved to Minneapolis where he worked at Sears. During WWII he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed on the East Coast.

He married Meribel Dahms on June 20, 1944 and later married Marjorie Munson on June 24, 1975.

After the war he lived in Minneapolis for six years, working as an appliance repairman. He then moved to Walnut Grove where he farmed for 26 years, later working as a repairman for Olson Hardware.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Walnut Grove, the Eagles Club in Tracy, and the American Legion Club in Walnut Grove. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, reading, watching basketball and singing.

He is survived by daughters Merilea (Clint) Schultz, Crosslake, MN, Rosemary Valentine, Coon Rapids, MN and Jessie (Ted) Stevenson, Beloit, WI; sons Doug (Rennae) Krentz, Walnut Grove, MN, Dick (Michelle) Krentz, Milpitas, CA; seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
