Schmiesing, Peterson advance to regional golf competition

Dane Schmiesing and Heidi Peterson have qualified for the Section 3A golf tournament. The Tracy Area High School juniors qualified at the sub-section tourney held on the Prairie View golf course in Worthington Monday.

The Panther boys were third as a team, and the girls were fifth. Boys team scores were: Pipestone-Jasper, 326; Luverne, 336; Tracy-Milroy, 343; Faith Christian, 360; Ellsworth, 361; Balaton, 424. The girls team scores were: Luverne, 349; Fulda, 375; Adrian, 385; MCC, 388; Tracy-Milroy, 412; Pipestone-Jasper, 443.

The section tournament will be held at the Marshall Country Club on May 26.


Julie Gifford sets new school record, is double 212 Conference champion

The Panther girls track team finished second in the 212 Conference Track Meet held in Clara City Thursday and the boys finished fourth.

The girls Team scores were:1-ACGC, 212.5; 2-T-M 137.5; 3- BDRSH, 132; 4- BOLD, 116; 5- MACCRAY, 46; 6- YME, 29.

Julie Gifford was a double winner for the Panthers, capturing the 1600 in 5:03.79 and the 3200 in 10:58.04. Her time in the 3200 was her personal best and set a new school record.

The boys team scores were: 1- ACGC, 199.5; 2-BDRSH, 159; 3- YME, 110; 4-T-M-B, 86; 5-BOLD, 70.5; 6- MACCRAY, 66.


New season for Panthers begins Saturday

T-M/B baseball team hopes to bounce back from close losses

A new season begins for the Panther baseball team Saturday, as they begin their defense of their section crown.

Tracy-Milroy/Balaton travels to Granite Falls to take on Montevideo in the first round of the Section 3AA tournament. Game time is at 5 p.m.

The loser hangs up their high school uniforms. The winner advances to the double-elimination phase of the tournament.
