Legion hits road with 11-1 record

The Milroy Legion baseball team takes an 11-1 record into three-straight days of games Thursday through Saturday. The Legion travels to Clara City for a 7 p.m. game Thursday, before hosting Edgerton in a Friday night game at 7 p.m. on the Milroy field.

Milroy takes part in the Belview-Renville-Sacred Heart tournament Saturday. Their first game is against Paynesville at 12:30 p.m.

Monday, the Legion hosts Sacred Heart. Tuesday, the team plays at Marshall. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Last week, the Milroy rallied to defeat previously unbeaten Jackson, then lost to Marshall.


Yanks record triple play

The Yankees had a tough week, winning 2 games while dropping 4. A highlight of the week was a triple play against Monticello on Saturday.

The Yankees travel to Springfield on Friday, Winthrop on Saturday and at Fairfax on Sunday.


Jackson road race, fitness walks set July 14

Area runners and walkers are invited to compete in the Town & Country Days Belmont Stakes VIII Road Races & Fitness Walk, July 14 at Jackson County Central High School in Jackson.

The event, sponsored by the Jackson County Pilot and United Prairie Bank, features a fitness walk of one or two miles as well as a 1/2 mile run for youths 12 and younger, a one mile run and a 5K run.
