Margaret Hagen, 95

Margaret Theresa Hagen died Monday, February 26, 2001 at Ebenezer Hall Nursing Home in Minneapolis, MN where she had lived since 1993. She had lived at the Towers in Zumbrota, previously since 1989.

She was born November 20, 1905, in Esdale, WI to Bolette and Thorvald Nygaard and later moved to Nevis, MN. She graduated from Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis in 1927 and Lutheran Bible Institute in 1933.

On June 14, 1934 she married Rev. Holger Hagen and lived at several parishes: Pukwana, SD, Westby, MT, Fosston, New London, Garvin, Henderson and Minneapolis, from 1933 to 1979. They lived and served at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin from 1963 to 1969.

She is survived by four children: Louise Hagen, LA, CA, Muriel (Carol) Brekken, Zumbrota, MN, Jeanette (Jerry) Larson, Bloomington, MN, Marvin (Ronda) Hagen, Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters.

Services are pending for Terrance Rolland, formerly of Tracy. Mr. Rolland passed away on Tuesday, March 13 at the VA Hospital in the Twin Cities. He is the son of Vivian and Manley Rolland of Tracy.

Alice Streeter, 91

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 12, 2001 for Alice Streeter at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Westbrook, MN. Alice passed away on Friday, March 9, 2001 at the Tracy Nursing Home at the age of 91 years.

Alice was born on the family farm in Murray County and she graduated from the Westbrook High School in 1927. After graduation she attended Minneapolis Business College for one year.

She was united in marriage on Sept. 25, 1929 in Dovray Township, Murray Co. to John LeRoy Streeter. John passed away on January 23, 1991.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Westbrook. Alice enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery and reading. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Donald (LaVonne) Streeter, Bunker Hill, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Mershon, Wells, MN, Mrs. David (Carol) Passer, Crystal, MN, Annette Foster of Walnut Grove, MN; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws Alice Lindstrom, Slayton, MN and Phyllis Lee of Big Lake, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers and one sister.

Interment was at the Westbrook Cemetery with the Jacobson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Jane A. Unger, 78

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 9, 2001 for Jane A. Unger at the Almlie Funeral Home in Balaton.

Pastor Steven Quist officiated with Rebecca Field as soloist and Brenda Johnson, organist. Special music was performed by Linda Steenhoven, Linette Fricke and Laurel Gort.

Casket bearers were her brothers, Merlin Johnson, Dolan Johnson, Darrel Johnson, Dick Johnson, Vernon Johnson and Dudley Johnson.

Jane Agnes Unger was born November 9, 1922 to Martin and Viola (Cunningham) Johnson in Florence, MN. She was baptized in the Christian faith. She attended schools in District 68 and 63 and graduated Valedictorian from Russell High School in 1939.

After graduation Jane stayed around the family home helping with her siblings. On December 27, 1941 she married Walter F. Unger in Worthington, MN and together the couple farmed on various farms in the area. They then retired to the Russell area.

Jane was a member of the Current Lake Birthday Club. She had many hobbies, such as the Norwegian skill of Hardanger, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and all manners of sewing. She was accomplished at chair caning and also enjoyed fishing and playing cards.

Jane passed away on Monday, March 5, 2001 at the age of 78.

She is survived by three sisters, Vivian (Loyd) Buchert of Philip, SD, Fern (Raymond) Nelsen of Balaton, MN, Eleanor (Arthur) Kroetch of Philip, SD; six brothers, Vernon (Bernice) Johnson of Stanchfield, MN, Dudley (Erma) Johnson of Lake Wilson, MN, Merlin (Alice) Johnson of Lake Wilson, MN, Dolan (Eyvonne) Johnson of Russell, MN, Dick (Marlys) Johnson of Lebanon, MO, Darrel (Karen) Johnson of Balaton, MN; one sister-in-law, Betty (Wilford) Byer of Tyler, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three nephews.

Interment was at the Russell City Cemetery, Russell, MN. Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton handled arrangements.
