Austin H. Carlson, 89

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, January 5, 2001 for Austin H. Carlson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy. Fr. Brian Mandel was celebrant with Richard Stelter as organist and Art Rogers as cantor.

Casket bearers were Jim Carlson, Joel Kunkel, Jessie Carlson, Jeff Barstad, Danie Nyquist and Carl Nyquist.

Austin Horace Carlson was born March 13, 1911 to Hjalmer F. and Gena (Peterson) Carlson in Lake Sarah Township of Murray County, Minnesota.

He grew up on the home farm and attended District 89 rural school.

Austin was married to Katherine Brecht on May 23, 1935 at St. Mary's Church. They farmed in Lake Sarah Township for three years and then purchased a farm in Shetek Township, which they farmed until retiring.

Austin served as the Shetek Township supervisor for 20 years, was a member of the Farm Bureau, Shetek Township school board and active in 4-H when his children were growing up. He did much of the research and writing of the Murray County History, which was published in 1982. Austin was also very interested in Norwegian and Swedish languages and history.

He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Knights of Columbus and Murray County Historical Society.

He died on Thursday, December 28, 2000, at the Prairie View Healthcare Center, at the age of 89 years.

Austin is survived by three sons and their spouses, Claire and Cecilia Carlson of Fredericksburg, VA, Howard and Lucille Carlson of Lake Mills, IA, Donald and Ann Marie Carlson of Toledo, OH; one daughter and her husband, Ann Marie and Orlo Bjerk of Scottsdale, AZ; three brothers and their spouses, Goodwin and Lillian Carlson of Bloomington, MN, Maynard and June Carlson of Peoria, IL and Luverne and Elfrieda Carlson of Garvin, MN; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, two sons, David and Duane, one sister, Ione Barstad, one brother, Ferdinand and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Tracy, MN with Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.

Donald Dardis, 72

Donald Dardis, 72, of Mankato, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 at Immanuel - St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato with Rev. Ted Hottinger, S.J. officiating.

Donald I. Dardis was born Jan. 31, 1928 to Charles and Josephine (Molitor) Dardis in Marshall, Minnesota. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1946. Donald joined the Army after graduating and served in the Occupation of Japan after World War II from September 20, 1946 until December 30, 1947. He farmed by Amiret and Currie. Don worked in Detroit, MI at the Cadillac factory.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Johnson on June 20, 1961 in Currie. He later worked in the milk drying plant and then for Appleton Silo in Marshall. Don was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 22 years until he retired in Mankato.

Don was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato and was a former member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and the Tracy American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Mankato; five sons, Chuck and Lori Dardis of Tracy, David and Kathy Dardis of Fulda, Pat and Lisa Dardis of Appleton, WI, Bob and Judy Dardis of Prior Lake, Kevin and Michelle “Mickey” Dardis of Eagle Lake, MN; one daughter, Sandy Dardis and her husband Bill Stoneman of McFarland, WI; 13 grandchildren; tow brothers and their wives, Linus and Therese Dardis of Fulda, MN; Norbert and Delores Dardis of St. Joseph; three sisters, Alita Lenertz of Tracy, Nora McCoy and her husband Robert of Tracy, Norma Traen and her husband Ray of Taunton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

Amy J. McCoy, 94

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 6, 2001 for Amy J. McCoy at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy, MN. Father Brian Mandel officiated with Richard Stelter as organist and Carol Cooreman as cantor.

Honorary bearers were Julie Dinger, Marlene Gordharner, Linda Perroset, Susan Pogatschnik, Margaret LeBlanc, Brenda Dubay, Cindy Kuka and Lori Dagel.

Casket bearers were Tim Freeman, Richard Freeman, Sean Meyer, Chris Pogatschnik, Wayne Dagel and Brent Dagel.

Amy Joyce McCoy was born November 10, 1906 to William and Nellie (Foster) Youngs in Springdale Township of Redwood County, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm in Springdale Township and attended Redwood County District 98 public school.

Amy was married to Walter McCoy on February 15, 1933 at St. Mary's Church in Tracy. They made their home on a farm in Shetek Township where they farmed and then moved to a farm in Monroe Township where they continued to farm. Following Walter's death Amy continued to live on the farm until 1993 when she moved into an apartment in Tracy. In 1997, she became a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home.

Amy was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Altar & Rosary Society and the Shetek Sewing Club.

Her interests included making quilts, embroidery, playing cards, bead work and Artex painting.

She died on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at the Tracy Nursing Home at the age of 94 years.

Amy is survived by her children and their spouses, Edward and Marlene McCoy of Tracy, MN, Norma and Gene Meyer of Avon, MN and Vivian and Bruce Freeman of Loretto, MN; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Tracy, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.
