Margaret Hansen, 87

Mass of Christian Burial was held for Margaret E. Hansen, Marshall, on Friday, July 13, 2001 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove, MN. Celebrants were Fr. Cel Pistulka and Fr. Brian Mandel.

Casket bearers were John Doubler, Tim Doubler, Harold Hewitt, Dean Rys, Robert (Hub) Kolar and Dennis Veroeven.

Margaret was born on the family farm in Gales Twp., Redwood Co., MN on December 27, 1913 to Octaaf and Mary (DeSmith) Putte. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. She attended rural school in the Walnut Grove area.

After her schooling she worked as a domestic for area families and she also worked at various cafes, and as a clerk at a dress shop, all in Tracy.

She was united in marriage to Roy E. Hansen on February 14, 1942 in Walnut Grove and they were married for 48 years. They lived in Tracy until 1960 when the couple moved to Minneapolis where they both worked at Bredes Draperies Co. The couple moved to Hill St. Apartments in Marshall in July of 1989 to be near their family.

Roy passed away on February 13, 1990.

In the spring of 1995 Margaret entered Weiner Memorial Health Care Center in Marshall due to ill health and that is where she passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2001.

She enjoyed going to Twins games and watching Rolle Bolle. Margaret was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall and a life member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW in Minneapolis.

She is survived by one niece, Janet Putte of Walnut Grove and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Ed Putte of Walnut Grove and one sister Elsie Larsen.

Interment was in St. Paul's Calvary Cemetery, Walnut Grove, MN with the Jacobson Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Dennis B. Jenson, 71

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook for Dennis B. Jenson. Rev. William Klavetter officiated. Organist was Janet Mischke with Marlowe Nelson as soloist.

Honorary casket bearers were Delbert Jensen, Rich Albertson, Lauren Hoyt, Gaylon Hanson, Robert Anderson, Norman Larson, Perry Shaw and Wesley Bakker.

Active casket bearers were Steve Jenson, Joey Jensen, Bruce Jensen, Brad Thompson, Donn Jenson, Rick Jensen, Perry Bowen and Greg Federer.

Military Honors were by the American Legion Post #152 and VFW Post #5098.

Dennis Brian Jenson was born February 18, 1930 to John and Bertha (Nelson) Jenson on a farm in Redwood County. He received his education, first attending school in Clements and later attending country school District #43 in Ann Township, Cottonwood County.

Before entering the United States Army in June of 1951, he was employed with his brother, Marvin, at Gebhard Implement in Storden, MN. While in the military, Denny completed his education and received his GED. He served in the 2nd Infantry Division and the 37th Field Artillery Battalion in Korea for two years, obtaining the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. Following his discharge in 1953, he returned to the Wesbrook area to begin his farming career while remaining in the active reserves until 1957.

On November 7, 1953, he and Dorothy Gempler were married at Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy, MN. Following their marriage, they always lived north of Westbrook, having lived at their present farm for the past 40 years.

Denny was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook where he was also baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the American Legion Post #152 and the VFW Post #5098 in Westbrook.

Leisure activities he enjoyed included fishing, golfing, playing cards, visiting with friends, gardening and riding his four-wheeler.

Denny died unexpectedly on July 9, 2001 at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. He was 71 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one son, Brian Jenson of Walnut Grove, MN; two daughters, Janet Marks of Springfield, MN and Lisa Jenson of Burnsville, MN; one grandchild, Jaden Marks; three brothers, William (Bill) Jensen of Westbrook, MN, Levi Jensen of Sacramento, CA and Curtiss Jenson of Westbrook, MN; two sisters, Gloria Federer of Cheyenne, WY and Marlene Thompson of Vancouver, WA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and two brothers, Marvin and James.

Interment was at the Westbrook Cemetery, Westbrook, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook handling arrangements.

Maynard McConnell, 90

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 13, 2001 for Maynard McConnell, age 90, of Marshall.

Maynard C. McConnell was born to James and Grace (McKinney) McConnell on July 27, 1910 in Braham, MN. In 1916 he and his family moved to Webster, IA. They moved to Minneota, several other farms and finally moving to a farm in the Sodus Township in 1918. He started trucking in 1935 and drove for many years.

Maynard was united in marriage to Margrete Dwire at the Methodist parsonage on December 27, 1936. He farmed in Sodus Township until 1945 and they moved to a farm in the Lake Stay Township near Arco. Maynard was baptized at his farm. He and his family farmed until 1969 at which time they moved to Marshall.

Maynard passed away at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall on Tuesday, July 10, 2001. He had reached the age of 90 years, 11 months and 14 days.

He is survived by his wife, Margrete of Marshall; three daughters, Shirley (Don) Friese of Balaton, Judy (Elwood) Busswitz of Adrian, and Phyllis (Bruce) Koch of Garvin; seven grandchildren; and twelve grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Claude and Earl McConnell; and a sister Reva Mann.

Maynard's enjoyments in life were camping, listening to polka music, gardening and tending his fruit trees.

Maynard was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church at the time of his death.
