Memorial Service

A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Cemetery for Betty (Goettig) Enger. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Korby Peltola, 59

Korby J. Peltola, age 59 of Mankato, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001, after falling from his boat on Upper Whitefish Lake.

Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 27, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato, with Rev. Richard Colletti officiating.

Mr. Peltola was born May 20, 1942 in Mankato to Wayne and Julia (Ruppert) Peltola. He graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School in Currie, MN. He graduated in 1964 from Mankato State University with a Business Degree.

He was united in marriage to Liz A. Gustafson on December 6, 1969 in Mankato. He served for a time in the U.S. Army Reserve. For the past 15 years he has been employed by Hiniker Homes. He also had worked for Butzer Realty.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Other members: Delta Sigma Phi, Sertoma Club, Mankato Lions Club and had been past president of Mankato Board of Realtors. He enjoyed fishing, fixing cars, auto ice racing and reading.

He is survived by his wife, Liz A. Peltola of Mankato; a son, Troy Peltola of Eagan; a granddaughter Kira; parents, Wayne and Julia Peltola of Currie; three brothers and their wives, Steve and Cheri Peltola of Sacramento, CA, Charles and Pat Peltola of Currie, Alan and Kris Peltola of Currie; five sisters Karen Thornes and her husband Geoff of Mankato, Dr. Nancy Peltola and her husband Dr. Steve Henke of Lanesboro, MN, Joni Heath and her husband Glen of Atlanta, GA, Christine Greenameyer and her husband Scott of Mission Viejo, CA, Lisa Peltola and her special friend Petr Dohm of Anchorage, AK; many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

The Mankato Mortuary handled arrangements.

Dale Scherbart, 76

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001 for Dale Scherbart at First United Methodist Church of Ankeny, IA. A graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. Wed., Aug. 29, at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton, MN.

Dale Scherbart was born in Tyler, MN and had lived in Grand Junction, IA and they moved to Ankeny in 1957. He owned Elad Enterprises and was also a draftsman for John Deere. He retired in 1999.

Dale was a member of the Rosicrucian Order, Experimental Aircraft Association, Odd Fellows and Ideal Rebekah Lodge. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and doing foundry work.

He died Saturday, August 25, 2001 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 76.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three daughters, Yvonne Van Doom of Perry, IA, Jean Bosch of Conway, AR and Stephani Scherbart of Ames, IA; one stepbrother, Paul Bancroft of Omaha, NE and four grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton, MN.
