Leona Gesquiere, 76

Services for Leona Gesquiere, 76, of Tracy, were held Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Rehkamp Funeral Home in Marshall handled the arrangements.

She died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at the Tracy Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1925, to Camiel and Marie (Dalle) Gesquiere in Island Lake Township, Lyon County. She received the sacraments of baptism, holy communion and confirmation at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, where she continued to be a lifelong member.

In 1926, she moved with her family to Sodus Township and attended country school at District 84. Upon completing her education, she farmed with her brother and sister until retiring in 1986. At this time, they moved to Marshall where she remained until entering the Tracy Nursing Home in June.

She enjoyed the outdoors, animals -- especially dogs, and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include sisters, Bertha Vandendriessche and Martha Gesquiere and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Carole Valentin, 66

Carole Marilyn Valentin 66, of Clear Lake, Iowa formerly of Milroy, Minnesota, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 8, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa with Rev. Cliff Close of First Assembly of God, Mason City, Iowa officiating.

Carole was born July 30, 1935 in Vesta, Minnesota, the daughter of Erich and Alice (Nelson) Valentin. She contracted Polio at the age of 16 and was tutored at home her last two years of high school. She graduated from Milroy High School in 1954.

She was in Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis in the iron lung. Carole accepted the Lord as her personal savior in 1952 and faithfully lived for Him. She enjoyed reading Christian books, listening to tapes and watching videos. She enjoyed everyone who visited her at Oakwood. Her life was an inspiration to many.

In 1958 she moved to Columbia Heights, MN and resided there until 1978, then moved to Clear Lake and in 1979 became a resident in Oakwood Care Center.

Carole was a member of First Assembly of God, Mason City, IA.

She is survived by her sister Annette Remick and her husband Bob, Davenport, FL; brother Gary Valentin, CA; a niece Ann Beaty and her husband Greg, Des Moines, IA; nephew Max Sydow, Minneapolis, MN and Michael Remick, Clear Lake, IA; great niece Daphne Lincicum and several cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Linda Sydow and one baby brother.

Graveside services were held on Monday, Oct. 8 at the Walnut Grove City Cemetery in Walnut Grove, MN with the Ward- VanSlyke Colonial Chapel handling arrangements.

Rosalia Wilde, 56

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 5, 2001 for Rosalia Whiting Wilde at the Community Alliance Church in Detroit Lakes. Pastor Jerry Dent officiated with Diana Derstine as organist and Scott Kallis as soloist.

Casket bearers were Jacob Webel, Charles Pavkov, Karl Webel, Larry Zimmer, Daniel Webel and Cedric Messner.

Rosalia Webel was born June 20, 1945 to Jakob and Katharina Schleicher Webel in Oberzell, Germany. In 1951, she and her family moved from Germany to Medina, Ohio and then to Akron, Ohio in 1964. Rosalia graduated from Medina High School in 1963. While in high school, she worked for Gross Medina Oil Company. In 1965, Rosalia went to work for Merrill Lynch in Akron, OH and then eventually moved to Chicago, IL to work for the company there.

In 1972, she married Robert Whiting, who also worked for Merrill Lynch. Rosalia and Robert became member of the Chicago Board of Exchange. In 1982, they moved to Tulaby Lake in northern Becker County. Robert died in 1986. Rosalia moved to Detroit Lakes. She married Dale Wilde on June 12, 1992.

Rosalia enjoyed collecting dolls and porcelain dogs. She also loved antique shopping and gardening. Rosalia cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She and Dale enjoyed flying, fishing and going to their lake cabin in Canada.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Wilde, Detroit Lakes, MN; son Richard Whiting, St. Cloud, MN; grandson Robert Whiting, St. Cloud, MN; mother Katharina Webel, Corona, CA; sisters, Elizabeth (Albert) Yovicchn, Carol Fulton, OH, Theresa (Charles) Pavkov, Mansfield, OH, Katherina (Larry) Zimmer, Corona, CA, Christina (Cedric) Messner, Phoenix, AZ; brothers, Reinhardt (Arlene) Webel, Akron, OH, Karl (Grace) Webel, Mechanicsville, VA, Adolf (Linda) Webel, Akron, OH, Rev. Robert (Marcia) Webel, St. Petersburg, Fl, Daniel (Nancy-Jean) Webel, Milford, OH, Richard (Connie) Webel, M.D., Columbia, MO, Jacob (Mary) Webel, M.D., Grand Junction, CO.

Rosalia was preceded death by her father, Jakob Webel and first husband Robert Whiting.

Burial was in the Tracy City Cemetery, Tracy, MN with West-Kjos Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes, MN handled arrangements.
