Arlene Gaveske, 93

Memorial services were held on Wed., Nov. 7, 2001 for Arlene A. Gaveske at Tracy Lutheran Church. Reverend Stephen Olson and Reverend Marlene Elmstrom officiated. Organist was Richard Stelter.

Arlene Annabelle Gaveske was born September 19, 1908 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Swan and Anna (Oaches) Stenlund. She attended rural country school.

Arlene was married to LeRoy Pete Gaveske on August 15, 1936 at Scandia, Minnesota. They made their home in Tracy where her husband was a foreman for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Arlene had worked as a telephone operator in her early years and, after her husband died in 1957, she was employed as a cook at the Tracy Elementary School.

She was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and the church women's organizations. She had been a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy for several years.

Arlene died on Saturday, November 3, 2001, at the Tracy Area Medical Services, at the age of 93 years. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Gaveske of Tracy, Minnesota. Her parents, husband, one son, David and one brother, Russell preceded her in death.

Burial was in the Tracy City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.

Hope McDonnell

A funeral service for the infant daughter of Dennis and Cheryl McDonnell was conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines, Iowa, Monday, Nov. 5, 2001.

Hope Margaret McDonnell was stillborn on Thursday, Nov. 1, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines, Iowa.

Hope Margaret is survived by her parents, Dennis and Cheryl, of Clive, Iowa; her grandparents, Richard and Sheila Helleson, of Tracy, and Dennis and Sherri McDonnell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a great-grandmother, Phyllis Holmberg of Fulda; and two uncles, Wade Helleson of Lennox, South Dakota and Brent McDonnell of Las Vegas, Nevada.
