TAHS students enjoy girls' hockey program

Cassandra Carlson has been playing hockey at Marshall under a pairing agreement since she was an eighth grader. The Tracy Area High School junior views it as a great experience.

"I didn't like basketball and I was looking around for some type of competition," she observed. "I have had many good experiences and have met a lot of great people. Our hockey team is a pretty tightly knit group".

Kara Wichmann, a TAHS student from Balaton, has also taken advantage of the pairing agreement to play on the Marshall hockey team this season.

Cassandra plays a forward position on the team and is one of the leading scorers for the season.


Youth Wrestlers advance to regional tourney in Windom

Youth wrestlers competed this weekend in District NYWA qualifiers at Canby and Sacred Heart. The top two finishers advance to regional wrestling on Saturday, March 24 at Windom. The top two finishes in the Windom tournament will advance to the State NYWA tournament to be held in Rochester at the Civic Center on March 31 and April 1.

First place finishers at Canby and Sacred Heart are listed in this week's paper.


Track/golf begin practices, ball teams start next week

The Panther track and golf teams began workouts on Tuesday of this week. The baseball and softball teams will start practices next week.

Dave Sogge of Balaton has been named the Panther girls' softball coach.

The team opens the season at Marshall on Tuesday, April 10. Their first home game will be against ACGC on April 19.

The Panther baseball team opens the season at Grove City on April 5. They host BOLD in their first home game on April 9.

The track team is scheduled to travel to Luverne on Tuesday, April 3. Their first home meet is April 10.

The golf team will opens against Red Rock Central Thursday, April 5.
