VFW rallies to beat Olivia

The Tracy VFW baseball team evened their season record to 1-1 with a come from behind win over Olivia 14-11 at Tracy Friday.

Tracy went into the last of the sixth inning trailing 11-6 and posted 8 runs to take the lead and get the win.

"We hit the ball well and pitched well but we did not throw the ball well," said Coach Bill Tauer. "We would field the ball and then throw it away. According to my calculations Olivia got only 1 earned run."

Sacred heart beats VFW

The VFW baseball team saw their season record drop to 1-2 with a 7-4 loss toSacred Heart at Sacred Heart Tuesday night.

Sacred Heart put up four runs in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third to do all of their damage. Tracy rallied for 4 runs in the fifth but it was not enough to alter the outcome.

Ross Ladehoff and Greg Carlson split the pitching chores with Ladehoff starting and Carlson pitcing the last three innings. Carlson also led the 4 hit attack with a 2 for 3 night at the plate. The other two hits were garnered by Eric Peterson and Andy Coulter.


3-ball, best-ball tourney attracts 93 golfers Sunday

Ninety-three golfers participated in the three-person, best-ball tournament held at the Tracy Country Club Sunday.

In the championship flight the team of Damien Javen, Ryan Lang and Les Prairie won with a net handicapped score of 56.18.

Al Jaeger, Perry Jaeger adn Harlan Eddy was second at 57.39. Doug LeClaire, John Brower and Charles Goerish were third at 57.44. B.J. Bursheim, K.C. Bursheim, Derek Bursheim was fourth at 58.01.


Four Panthers named as all-conference baseball

Four Panther baseball players are on the 212 Conference baseball team.

Tracy/Milroy/Balaton selections are: Derek Rignell, Eric Dolan, Adam Schmidt and Matt Daniels.

Dolan received the additional honor of being named 212 Conference baseball player of the year. dolan compiled a 10-2 record pitching, while posting a 1.08 ERA. In 71 innings pitched, Dolan struck out 91 while walking just 18 and allowing 37 hits. When not pitching, Dolan played shortstop. He hit .319 and knocked in 12 runs.

Rignell, the team's starting catcher for the past 3 1/2 seasons, batted .408, knocking in a team-leading 18 runs. He had six doubles, a triple and four home runs.

Daniels, a first baseman, batted .333 with 16 RBIs.

Schmidt, a junior, saw double-duty as a pitcher and a middle infielder. Schmidt posted a .5-0 record and a 1.40 ERA, allowing 38 hits and four walks in 3 innings. He struck out 25, Schmidt batted .301 with 15 RBIs.

The Panthers shared the 212 Conference championship with Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City with a 12-1 record. For the season, TMB was 20-4, finishing second to Luverne in the Section 3AA tourney.

Derek Rignell was named to the Southern Team in the 27th Annual Lions High School All-Star Baseball Tournament

Brady Schmidt was selected to the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Associations All-State Academic Baseball team.
