Softball team ends season with 12-6 record

The Tracy Community Education girls' softball team ended its season Sunday with a 12-6 season record. Tracy hosted the Redwood County Girls Softball League Tournament and finished third with 2 wins and 2 losses.

"We were seeded third and that is just where we finished," said Coach Paul Skoglund. In the first game of the double-elinination tourney, Tracy was paired with Clements, the No. 6 seeded team, and won easily 26-3.

"We really hit the ball well in this game," said Skoglund. "We scored in every inning." Tracy beat Seaforth, the second- seeded team, 10-6.

“We caught opposing players in run-downs and ran aggressively on the base paths. They have been a great bunch of girls to coach for Rick Anderson and me. They listened to coaching, played hard, and had fun. It should have been great preparation for next spring's fast pitch team,” Skoglund concluded.

Milroy ends season 14-11, 3 wins short of trip to state

The Milroy Legion baseball team's season ended at Fairmont in the district tournament Friday.

Luverne eliminated Milroy with a 6-2 win. Luverne ended the Tracy/Milroy/Balaton high school team's this spring in the Section 3A finals also.

The Legion squad ended their season with 14-11 record. Luverne went on to beat Slayton twice to win the trip to the state legion tourney.

"I told the kids before the game that either Luverne or we (Milroy) would win the tournament," said Milroy Coach Chris Miller. “ We had our chances to win the game but couldn't capitalize on them. Luverne is a good team.”
