Delmar Coulter, 76

Memorial services were held on Friday, June 7, 2002 for Delmar W. Coulter at Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church in Walnut Grove, MN. Pastor Terry Skildum officiated. Special music was performed by 5 Deep with Connie Knott as organist.

Delmar (Pat) Wayne Coulter was born October 4, 1925 to James and Pearl (Anderson) Coulter on a farm north of Lamberton, MN. He attended Lamberton Public School and graduated in 1943. Delmar was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith.

During his high school years he was an avid baseball player, playing the position of catcher for Wanda and Lamberton Amateur teams well into adulthood. He farmed with his father on the family farm. In 1943, Delmar enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp in the 939th Ammunitions Company and served until 1946.

On December 21, 1947 Delmar married Bernice I. Schmechel in the Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, MN. The couple lived on Delmar's father's farm until 1963 when they moved to Walnut Grove, MN. Delmar began working as a bus mechanic and transportation manager for the Walnut Grove Public School system.

On July 31, 1971 he married Virginia Pilaczynski at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove, where the couple made their home.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove, the American Legion, past member of the Lamberton Methodist Church and the Walnut Grove Fire Dept.

Delmar enjoyed traveling extensively, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and handing out M&M's.

He died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy at the age of 76.

Delmar is survived by one daughter, Jean (Steve) Vogel of Eagan, MN; one son, John (Muriel) Coulter of Tracy, MN; one stepdaughter, Sharon (Gary) Zimmerman of Sleepy Eye, MN; one stepson, Gary (Sharon) Pilaczynski of Walnut Grove, MN; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Edie) Coulter and Merle (Janice) Coulter, both of Lamberton, MN, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents, both wives and three brothers precede him in death.

Memorials will be contributed to the current Coulter Scholarship fund at Westbrook-Walnut Grove High School.

Burial was in the Walnut Grove City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling arrangements.

Scott Nuy, 28

Funeral services are set for Friday, June 14, 2002 for Scott David Nuy of Champlain, formerly of Tracy. Scott died on Tuesday, June 11. Services will be held at Tracy Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with a visitation on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Almlie Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Scott was born and raised in Tracy and moved during grade school. His parents are Shirley and George Nuy.

John Ross, 62

Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 30, 2002 at Colman Lutheran Church, Colman, SD for John A. Ross. Pastor Bjoern Meinhart officiated. Renee Gullickson was vocalist with Joyce Pedersen, accompanist.

Honorary bearer was Jack Berghorst. Active bearers were Ron Ahlers, Jim VanHecke, Willie Hahn, Harvey Johnson, Bob Groos, Ron Nelson and John Berghorst.

John was born April 16, 1940, at Tracy, MN, to Bill and Polly (Nybo) Ross. The Ross family moved to Colman, SD in 1955.

John joined the U.S. Army in 1957, where he served in Germany and stateside.

He married Edith Migler on July 2, 1960, at Garretson, SD. They farmed near Garretson for a short time before moving to Colman. John worked with his dad and brothers for many years before they started Ross Electric of Colman. He loved the trucking business and in the early 80's he and his wife started E&J Trucking. John loved being at the lake and fishing. He also had a love for racing, owning his own car in the 70's.

His wife preceded him in death January 29, 1999. John was a member of Colman Lutheran Church, a volunteer fireman in Colman and a spokesman for AA. When he wasn't at work you'd find him at one of his grandkid's ballgames or school activities. He was a dedicated dad, grandpa and friend.

John is survived by son, Jeff Ross, Madison, SD; daughter, Renae Ross, Colman; four grandchildren, Jade, Justin, Roxanne, Austin; special friend, Carol Ross; three brothers, Jim (Rosemary) Thompson and Kenneth (Jan) Ross, all of Colman; Gary (Sally) Ross, Baker, MT; three sisters, Betty Ziemke, Tracy, MN, Lucy (Francis) Wendell, Egan; Sharon (Vern) Jaacks, Colman and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; son, Rodney; parents; two brothers, Richard and Ronnie Ross.

Kathryn Marie (Thompson) Buzzell, 80

Kathryn Marie (Thompson) Buzzell passed away on May 28, 2002 in Mesa, Arizona. Kathryn was born May 14, 1922 to Erwin and Matie (Hollenbeck) Thompson in Russell, MN. When she was 3 years old, her family moved to Marshall where she was educated. Graduatng in 1940, she worked in three homes before starting work for NW Bell Telephone Company. She worked several different places and retired in Marshall in 1983 with 37 years of service.

She married Cecil Buzzell on January 20,1951. They resided in Tracy until the telephone went dial then she transferred to Marshall in 1963 where she retired. Kathryn was active in the Presbyterian Church in Marshall and Tracy. She taught sunday school, had the Jr. Youth Group in Marshall, sang in the choir and was active in the Women's Groups. She loved to play cards and did crafts when living in Arizona.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil, two children, Terry Allen (Rochester, MN) and Lynda Kay Buzzell (Westminster, CO), two grandchildren, Kristen and Matthew Buzzell in Rochester, a brother, John Thompson and a sister Dorothy Bamford, both living in the Minneapolisarea. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter
still born. Blessed be the memory better known as Kay Buzzell.

A memorial service will be held in Tracy, Minnesota early July.
