Ivan Anderson, 74

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 for Ivan Anderson at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Balaton, MN. Rev. Dale Arndt and Rev. Mark Zander officiated. Organist was Gloria Arndt.

Casket bearers were Bradley Yearous, Jerry Mathews, Delmond Huck, Lori Loetcher, Vicky Lunz, Joshua Dickhausen, Michael Anderson, Denise Gearery and Loren Mathews.

Ivan Algot Anderson was born March 15, 1928 to Ernest and Ima (Wilson) Anderson in Glenwood, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. As a young boy his family moved to a farm south of Walnut Grove, MN where he attended country school. In December of 1948 he enlisted in the United States Army and was trained as a mechanic and assigned to the Signal Corp. He was stationed overseas in Korea and given his honorable discharge in July of 1951.

On October 26, 1952 Ivan married Margaret Huck in Balaton, MN. They made their home on a farm near Russell, MN from 1954 until 1989 when Margaret died.

Ivan married Mary Lou Manguson June 1, 1991 at the Presbyterian Church in Tracy, MN and they made their home on Mary Lou's farm north of Tracy. He continued farming near Russell till his retirement in 1994.

He was a current member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Balaton, a member of the Russell American Legion, Tracy VFW, had served on the Russell school board and the Southwest Minnesota Dairy Association. Ivan enjoyed watching football, many high school sports, reading, playing cards and studying World War II.

Ivan died Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Tracy Area Medical Services at the age of 74.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; two daughters, Marjorie (Steve) Ostgaard of Tracy, MN and Dawn (Loren) Evans of Balaton, MN; one daughter-in-law, Heannette Anderson of Russell, MN; one step-son, Alan Manguson of Tracy, MN; one step-daughter, Lynn Manguson of Ft. Collins, CO; seven grandchildren, Danna, Ashley and Stephanie Evans, Luke and Gayra (fiancée, Brendan Rokke) Ostgaard, Dawn and Chris Anderson; one great grandson, Mic Ostgaard; one brother, Milton of St. Paul, MN; three sisters, Maxine Dickhausen of St. Paul, MN, Blanche Burghart of Oakdale, MN and Lavonne Perron of Rosemount, MN and special family friend, Ryan Van Eck.

His parents, first wife, Margaret and his son, Darwin preceded him in death.

Interment was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Balaton, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy and Balaton handling arrangements.
