Legion baseball tourney set Saturday in Milroy

The Sub-District American Legion baseball tournament is set Saturday in Milroy.

Milroy will be paired off against Windom and Mountain Lake-Butterfield-Odin will play Jackson in doubleheaders. In case of a split the teams will play a third game. The series winners will open district play against each other the following week at Springfield. The ML-B-O vs Jackson series will begin at 10 a.m. with the second game following. The Milroy- Windom series begins at 3 p.m.

The Milroy Legion beat Wabasso 4-3 Monday night, after dropping a 4-3 game to Fairfax last Tuesday night.

Milroy used a three-run sixth inning to take a lead they never loss. It was only the second league loss for Wabasso this season.

"It was a quality win over a quality team," said Coach Chris Miller. "We needed to pick it up a little and be prepared for the sub-district tournament.”


VFW plays home finale Friday

The Tracy VFW baseball team hosts Olivia Friday night in their final home game. The first pitch is at 6:30 p.m.

The game has a bearing on seedings for the upcoming District VFW tournament. First-round games begin either Monday or Tuesday, with games being played at the higher seed. Tournament pairings for the double-elimination tourney will be announced this weekend.

The tournament is paired into south and north divisions. Four teams advance to the district tournament in Marshall, at a date to be determined.


Parents' Night is set July 17

Wednesday, July 17, is “Parents' Night” for Tracy Summer Recreation youth softball, T-ball, and baseball teams.

T-ball is set at 5:30 p.m., followed by third through sixth grade boys at 6:45 p.m. Girls' softball and seventh and eighth grade boys' games begin at 8 p.m. Concessions will be sold, with proceeds going to the Miss Tracy Scholarship Program.
