Leonard Campbell, 98

Services for Leonard G. Campbell, 98, of Marshall and formerly of Currie, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Hamilton-Birk Funeral Home in Marshall, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to services.

He died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Prairie View Healthcare Center.

He was born May 30, 1905, in St. Peter to Pearl and Rose (Rykhus) Campbell.

He is survived by his wife, Stella of Marshall; seven children, Agnes Stirn of Currie, Patricia Athins of Lake Wilson, Lyle of Walnut Grove, LaVonne Pierson of Alden, N.Y., Phyllis Anderson of Mountain View, Ark., Kathleen Hohler and Arlene Fastenau of Tracy; 5 stepdaughters; two brothers, Hollie Campbell of Tracy and Russell Johnston of Sioux City, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Martin Hill, 23

Funeral services were held for Martin Lee Hill, 23, of Marshall Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Marshall. Father Gerald Meidl officiated.

He died tragically Sunday, June 22, 2003, in Marshall

He was born on Jan. 16, 1980, in Marshall.

He is survived by his loving companion, Angelica Ruiz, and children, Gavin Richard Hill and Jada Christine Hill, all of Marshall; his mother, Teresa LeClaire of Ghent; his father, Phillip Hill of Balaton; three sisters, Mercy Hill of Marshall, Kathryn Hill of Marshall and Sejourney LeClaire of Ghent; one brother, Zachary LeClaire of Ghent; grandparents, Richard and Irene Maertens of Marshall, Vivian Hill of Florida and Victor Hill of New York; and niece and goddaughter Gabby Hill.

He is preceded in death by an aunt, an uncle and one cousin

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Marshall, MN.

The Rehkamp Funeral Home of Marshall handled arrangements.

Anita “Tiny” Silver, 75

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home for Anita Silver of Tracy, MN.

Anita "Tiny" Silver was born May 26, 1928 in Tracy, MN to Fred and Clara Aldrich. Tiny worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switch board operator and in the business office. It was there that she met Bob Silver.

Anita was united in marriage to Robert Silver on June 18, 1956. Following Bob's death in 1975 she worked at the Tracy Nursing Home for several years. Tiny was a lifelong resident of Tracy. She was an avid arrowhead and artifact hunter. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Anita "Tiny" Silver passed away Saturday, June 28, 2003 at her home in Tracy, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 2 days.

She is survived by one daughter Jeanne and husband Bruce Vogel of Sacred Heart and one son Michael and wife Shaun of Spicer; daughter-in-law Ruth (Silver) and husband Cliff Freiderich of Mankato; four grandsons and six granddaughters; one great grandson and one great granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert and their son Patrick, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Burial was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tracy with the Tracy Area Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Sharyl Zender, 62

Services were held Friday, June 27, 2003, at First Lutheran Church in Butterfield for Sharyl Zender, 62 of Butterfield, MN.

Sharyl R. Zender was born during the Armistice Day blizzard on November 10, 1940 in Tracy to Irving and Clara (Knutson) Peterson. She grew up and attended school in Tracy and worked at various jobs in Tracy, Mountain Lake, and Butterfield.

She was married to E. Lynn Rohwer from 1960 until his death in 1971. She married Robert Zender in 1972 at St. James Catholic Church. Bob and Sharyl farmed in the Butterfield area until 1990 and owned a crop insurance business in St. James until 2002.

Sharyl passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Our House-Hospice of Murray County in Slayton.

Sharyl is survived by her husband, Bob; three daughters, Julie and her husband, Greg Thymian of Morris, Deanna and her husband, Mike Strenge of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jennifer and her husband, Chris Carlson of Omaha, NE; son, Bryan Rohwer and his wife, Brenda of Chandler, AZ; six grandchildren; sister, Char Olson and her husband, Don of Minneapolis; four sisters-in-law, Delores Peterson of Las Vegas, NV, Colleen Hammer and her husband, Quinten of Jordan, Marion Smith of St. James, and Sally Jonson and her husband, Vern of Morris; three brothers-in-law, Stu Grev and his wife, Ruth of Portsmouth, RI, Andrew Zender Jr. and his wife, Kathleen of St. James, and John Zender and his wife, Ardyce of Butterfield; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; son, Mark Zender; brother, Maynard Peterson; sister, Janie Swenhaugen; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

The Pease Funeral Home of St. James handled the arrangements.
