Erwin Domine, 77

A Memorial service was held today, Wednesday, October 1, 2003 for Erwin Domine at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tracy. The Tracy Area Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Erwin Frederick Charles Domine was born on January 20, 1926 in Walnut Grove to William H. Domine and Ana Maria Mueller Domine. He was baptized and confirmed at the Walnut Grove Lutheran Church. He attended school at the Walnut Grove country schools.

On February 1, 1947 Erwin was united in marriage to Dolores Cartwright at St. James Episcopal Church in Cleveland, OH. After their marriage Erwin and Dolores lived in Walnut Grove. They have lived in Tracy, MN since 1950.

Erwin was in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 where he was Chief Petty Officer. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA. Erwin was an entrepreneur who was known for his stories. He was involved with road construction, gold mining, was a hay broker, made mobile home tie downs, was a manufacturer of mining equipment and was an aerial photographer.

He was a member of the VFW, Lions Club, GPAA, Civil Air Patrol and a Charter Member of the Eagles. He enjoyed history, flying, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Erwin passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his home.

He is survived by his wife Dolores Domine of Tracy; children: William Domine of Tracy, MN, Anne Erickson of Sioux Falls, SD, Michael C. (Patrice) Domine of Summit, MS, Roxanne Domine of St. Cloud, MN, and John M. (Joni) Domine of Tracy; 14 grandchildren: Amy, Bradley and Alyssa Domine; Tom (Andrea) and Randy (Becky) Erickson; Corey (Allison) and Michelle Domine, Nicole (Chris) Stanley, Tiffany (Christian) Wilson; Nathan (Jessica) Domine, Jorge Serna, Travis, Jill, and Ashlee Domine; 13 great-grandchildren: Thomas Jr., Jackson, MicKayla, Brittany and Dustin Erickson; Hayden, Taylor and Amanda Domine; Jordan, Shaianne and Brenden Domine; Jorge Jr. and Carter Serna; one sister Irene Richardson; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Herald; sister Dorothy; and infant son Erwin Jr.

Mathilda Kubica, 77

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 27, 2003 for Mathilda “Tillie” Kubica at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, MN. Rev. Alan Bolte officiated. Richard Stelter was the organist.

Casket bearers Carlyle Jokstad, Carl Jokstad, Mike Maas, Carlton Jokstad, Steve Carlson and Cy Molitor.

Mathilda M. “Tillie” Kubica was born October 25, 1925 to William and Frances (Johnson) Van Klei in Worthington, MN, Nobles County. She was Baptized and Confirmed in the Christian faith at Wesley Methodist Church in Lake Wilson, MN. She attended country school near Hadley, MN and Slayton High School. As a young woman she cleaned homes for several families in the Slayton area.

Tillie moved to Chicago during World War II with her sisters and worked for Motorola Corporation in manufacturing.

On April 7, 1948, Tillie married Stephen Kubica, whom she met while living in Chicago. They made their home in Chicago and in 1954 they moved to Lake Zurich, IL. Over the years they lived in several Illinois communities and after her husband's death, Tillie moved back to Garvin, MN in 1978 to take care of her mother. In 1986 she moved to Avoca, MN and in May of 2003 she became a resident of Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, MN.

Tillie was a member of the Word of Faith Church in Avoca and enjoyed vegetable gardening, fishing and crocheting. Over the years many of the crocheted afghans she made were donated to raffles and charities.

On September 22, 2003 Tillie became a resident of the Slayton Manor in Slayton, MN where she died on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at the age of 77.

Mathilda is survived by her one son, John and his wife, Caryn of Hoffman Estates, IL; one daughter Karen and her fiancé, Mike Maas of Tracy, MN; two granddaughters, Justine Wykel and Meredith Fredinna; one great-granddaughter, Enza; three sisters, Zelma (Gaylen) Benson of Maple Plain, MN, Jean Waage of Marshall, MN and Hazel (Cy) Molitor of Lynd, MN; three brothers, William “Ike” of Balaton, MN, John of Wichita, KS and Pete (Pat) of Fox Lake, IL; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, husband, Stephen, half sister, Georgia Hein and half brother, Aria preceded her in death.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home handling arrangements.
