TMB girls are state runner-ups

The Panther girls track team placed second behind Mayer Lutheran at Saturday's State True Team Track Meet held in Blaine. It was the second successive win for Mayer Lutheran and the second successive year they had edged the Panthers for the title.

The team scores were:

1) Mayer Lutheran, 471; 2) Tracy/Milroy/Balaton, 415.5; 3) Cedar Mountain, 384; 4) Byron, 341; 5) New Richland-Heartland-Ellendale-Geneva, 329.5; 6) Hawley-Ulen-Hitterdahl, 301; 7) Warren/Alvarado/Oslo, 259.5; 8) Pierz, 216.5; 9)Chisholm, 198.

"You have to give them credit, they are very good and very deep," said Panther Coach Steve Jones. "Cedar Mountain also did very well but we are just a little deeper than they are just like Mayer Lutheran is just a little deeper than we are."

The Panthers got wins from the 4X100 meter relay team and from Tessa Nelson in the triple jump. The rest of the team performed very well but just not quite well enough to win the title.


Peterson & Jackson advance to Section 3A golf meet

The Panther boys finished third and the girls sixth at the Subsection 3A golf meet held at Tyler Monday. The Panthers Eric Peterson and Bryan Jackson qualified for the Section meet to be held at Marshall this Friday.

"Eric (Peterson) qualified for the section meet by finishing in third place with his 85," said Panther Coach Randy McIntire. Bryan (Jackson) tied with two others with his 90 and had to play-off for a qualifying spot. Jake (Peterreins) missed qualifying by 1 stroke and he said he missed three short puts that could have given him a qualifying score."

The boys team scores were: 1)Luverne, 337; 2)Pipestone, 353; 3)TMB, 367; 4)SWC, 388; 5)H-BC, 398.

The Panther individual results were: Eric Peterson, 85; Bryan Jackson, 90; Jake Peterreins, 91; Kyle McIntire, 101.

The girls team scores were: 1)MCC, 381; 2)Luverne, 382; 3) Fulda, 387; 4) Adrian, 416; 5)Pipestone, 437; 6)TMB, 441; 7)SWC, 548.

The Panther girls individual scores were: Kayla Lau, 104; Sara Macken, 108; Shanel Hansen, 113; Cassie Bryant, 116.


TMB is 4th south-half softball seed

The Panther girls' softball team ended its season on a winning note by sweeping the Renville County Jaguars 4-0 and 7-4 in Sacred Heart Tuesday.

The team goes into the 3AA Section South Tournament at Windom on Saturday with an 11-8 record and they finished 8-6 in the 212 Conference

The Panther's mound ace, Megan Anderson, held the Jaguars to 4 runs in two games over the 12 innings while giving up 12 hits.

Lynn Brockway had a triple and 2 runs batted in in the first game and a double in the second game. Kasey Loeslie had a double and 2 runs batted in in the second game.

The Panther defense played well in the field with only 1 error in the 2 games.
