Orlando Hanson

Orlando Hanson of Dovray passed away April 28 in Rockport, TX. Services are set for Saturday, May 8 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Dovray at 10 a.m. with visition one hour pror to the service.

Orlando was the father of Rolf (JoAnn) Hanson of Tracy and Diane Johnson of Springfield.

Colleen Hoffman, 73

Funeral services were held for Colleen Hoffman on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy, MN. Reverend Kurt Kluge officiated. Organist was Valerie Hayes with Karl Baumann as soloist.

Casket bearers were Todd Nickel, David Geis, Robert Blume, Wade Rogotzke, Steven Geis and Dick Emery.

Colleen Mae (Dietz) Hoffman was born November 13, 1930, to Arnold and Pearl (Penner) Dietz at home in Sanborn, Redwood County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended Sanborn public schools and graduated from Sanborn High School in 1949. Following graduation Colleen attended Mankato Business College. For a short while Colleen was employed as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell.

On August 19, 1951, she married Ronald Hoffman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Willow Lake Township, MN. The couple moved around frequently in the beginning due to Ron being in the U.S. Army. In 1955 they made their permanent home north of Walnut Grove, MN. After the birth of their handicapped son, Gregg, Colleen stayed at home to care for him and her family.

Colleen was a current member of Zion Lutheran Church and a past member of Faith Lutheran Church in Tracy where she served as secretary and on various women's groups. She was also a member of the Tracy Area Medical Services Hospital Auxiliary. Colleen enjoyed bird watching and caring for her son, Gregg, and her grandchildren.

She died on April 26, 2004, in the Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, MN at the age of 73.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Ronald; four sons, Jeffrey (Kelly), Scott (June), David (Lisa) all of Walnut Grove, MN and Gregg of Windom, MN; six grandchildren, Ryan, Lacey, Jennifer, Kristie, Abby and Joshua; one sister, June Brewster of Roseville, CA, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, two sisters (Patricia Flaig and one infant sister), and two brothers-in-law.

Burial was in the Sanborn City Cemetery, Sanborn, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling the arrangements.

Julia Peltola, 84

Mass of Christian Burial was held today, Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie for Julia Peltola. Monsignor Paul Evers officiated. Organist was Patty LeClaire with LoAnn Hansen as song leader.

Pallbearers were Gary Ruppert, John Silver, Carl Ruppert, Mike Ruppert, Kevin Carlson and Tim Cummiskey.

Julia Peltola was born on August 7, 1919 on a farm in Murray Twp., Murray County, MN to Valentine and Catherine Potthoff Ruppert. She grew up on the family farm south of Currie and graduated from IHM School. She continued her education at Mankato Commercial College and then worked in Mankato.

On October 9, 1941, she and Wayne Peltola were married in Mankato. Following their marriage, they lived in several locations including New Orleans and Mankato before they moved to a farm three miles southeast of Currie. They retired from farming in 1976 and moved into Currie and spent many happy years together.

Julia passed away on May 2, 2004 at her home in Currie at the age of 84 years.

She was a life member of IHM Church, belonged to the Catholic Daughters and an honorary member of the WCCW. She belonged to the Currie Town and Country Club. Julia enjoyed quilting, playing cards, reading, fishing and spending time with her family.

Julia was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and friends who taught unconditional love by giving it. She believed wholeheartedly that family, friends and her faith would sustain her. She lived a life of willing service to community and family. Through her humor, playfulness and easy smile she brought delight to many. She will be cherished forever.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne of Currie; eight children and their spouses, Steve and Cherie Peltola of Sacramento, CA, Chuck and Pat Peltola of Currie, Karen and Geoff Thornes of St. Clair, MN, Nancy Peltola and Steve Henke of Currie, Joni and Glenn Heath of Alpharetta, GA, Christine and Scott Greenameyer of Mission Viego, CA, Alan and Kris Peltola of Currie and Lisa Peltola and Peter Dohm of Anchorage, AK; daughter-in-law, Liz Peltola of Mankato, MN; 16 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, two brothers and their spouses; Marcella Cummiskey of Currie, Leota Silver of Tracy, Herbert Ruppert of Currie and Orville and Judy Ruppert of Alexandria, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marcella Ruppert of Currie, Dorothy Ruppert of Currie and Wayne and Rosemary Carlson of Slayton, MN.

She is preceded in death by her son, Korby, two sisters, Irma Carlson and Lillian Busch, three brothers, Louis, Harold and Ray Ruppert, brothers-in-law, Don Cummiskey, Tom Silver and Ray Busch.
