Douglas D. Schulte, 28

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Douglas D. Schulte. Fr. Brian Mandel officiated. Organist was Christy Gergen. Cantor was Carla VandeWiele.

Casket bearers were Keith Lubben, Andy Coudron, Gary LaVoy, Steve LaVoy, Greg Lanoue and Dan Lanoue.

Douglas Dean Schulte was born July 23, 1975 to M. (Bucky) and Rose (Knakmuhs) Schulte in Marshall, MN, Lyon County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating in 1993. After high school Doug attended Canby Vo-Tech for two years and graduated in 1995 as a diesel mechanic.

Doug was raised in the Amiret, MN area his whole life he worked on the farm with his father and also several area farmers. While attending Vo-Tech he worked on a dairy and hog farm and returned to Amiret after graduation. He began working for LaVoy's Repair part time in the summer of 1994 and went full time in 1995 until December 2000 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

He was active in FFA in high school, serving as treasurer. He enjoyed hunting, Nascar racing and mechanics in general. After a short stay in a care facility near the Twin Cities, Doug entered the Our House in Slayton, MN where he died Saturday, July 3, 2004 at the age of 28.

Doug is survived by his parents, Bucky and Rose of Amiret, MN; two brothers, Jeremy (Carrie) of Wabasso, MN and Ben (Teresa) of Gary, SD; one sister, Michelle (Nick) Roberts of Amiret, MN; two nephews, Jayden and Chad; three nieces, Shayla, Katlin and Kylie; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling the arrangements.
