Lawrence Fogel, 92

Lawrence J. Fogel age 92 of Westbrook passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 at the Westbrook Health Care Center. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook.

Lawrence J. Fogel was born February 14, 1912 in Hawley, MN to Amil & Laura (Bauer) Fogel. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Hawley. He attended country school near Hawley. Lawrence farmed with his father until 1939 when he moved to the Westbrook area. There he worked for area farmers.

On April 10, 1941, Lawrence was united in marriage to Bonita Boster at the Lutheran Church in Fulda. Lawrence began farming on his own in 1942, and continued living in the Westbrook area with Bonnie. Lawrence retired from farming in 1975 and moved to town in 1980. Then he was a caretaker for North Apartments for ten years, and drove for RSVP for a number of years. Lawrence was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and later Trinity Lutheran Church. He was very active helping his family and friends, and service the community. Lawrence was a member of the Farm Bureau and was a 4-H leader. He also served on the boards for Heritage House and the Good Samaritan Care Center. He enjoyed fishing, small game hunting in the area, and deer hunting “up north”. He also enjoyed dancing and playing cards and checkers. Lawrence loved spending time with his family and friends.

Lawrence Fogel is survived by his wife Bonnie of 63 years; daughter Bonnie Jacob & husband Don of Tracy; grandchildren along with their families: Teresa (Jeff) Goettig and Aaron & Derrick of Currie, Daniel (Kelly Ann) Jacob and Nathan, Brandi & Joshua of Garvin, and Darren (Kelly J.) Jacob and Timothy & Stephanie of Tracy; brother Milton Fogel of Moorhead, MN; sisters: Mavis Fugure of Fargo, ND, and Opal Edinger of Fargo, ND; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Richard, four brothers & three sisters.

Interment was in the Westbrook Cemetery. The Westbrook Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
