Andy Engesser, Jay Henni top member-guest tourney

There were 84 participants in the annual Member-Guest Tournament held at the Tracy Country Club Saturday and Sunday.
Andy Engesser and Jay Henni won the championship flight with a score of +30. The second place winner was the team of Eric Peterson and Steve Wensman at +25. Third-place honors went to the team of Les Onken and Brian Onken at +19.

Keith Engesser and Paul Mickelson won the first flight at +16. Tied for second was the team of Bruce Rykhus and Tony Majeres at +15 and the team of Mark Peterson and Mike Ellingson, finishing third was the team of Curt Rassmussen and Lee Kaufenberg at +10.

Mike Schmidt and Tom Schmidt won the second flight at +12. Finishing second was the team of Jay Swanson and Greg Hanson at +11 and the teams of Steve Borchert and John Facile tied with the team of Jack Lau and Don Hanson at +9 for third place.

The team of Doug Heist and Ron Radke won the third flight with a score of +22 over the second place team of Mike Turner and Marc Turner at +15. Finishing third was the team of Jeff Lau and Tom Hollingsworth at +7.


Milroy wins in eighth

The Milroy Legion baseball team played three games this past week winning one and losing two.

Milroy 14, Minneota 5

Last Wednesday Pat Spielmann started on the mound for Milroy and pitched 5 innings giving up 3 runs on 1 hit while walking 6 and striking out 8. Brett Jackson pitched the last 2 innings and gave up 2 runs on no hits while walking 4 and striking out 2.

Eric Fraser and Anthony Rohlik lead the 16 hit Milroy attack with 3 hits each.

Clara City 10, Milroy 4

On Thursday Milroy lost to Clara City 10-4.

Derek Radke started on the mound for Milroy and pitched 3 innings giving up 6 runs on 4 hits while walking none and striking out 2. Anthony Rohlik pitched the next 3 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2. Matt Bauer finished the game by pitching 1 inning and gave up 1 run on no hits while walking 2 and striking out 2.

Sacred Heart 5, Milroy 1

On Monday Milroy lost to Sacred Heart by a score of 5-1.

Pat Spielmann started on the mound and pitched 6 innings giving up 4 runs (none earned) on 4 hits while walking 4 and striking out 3. Brett Jackson pitched the last inning and gave up 1 run on 1 hit while walking 1 and registering no strikeouts.


VFW baseball splits Olivia twin bill

On Monday the Tracy VFW baseball team split a double-header at Tracy with Olivia. Tracy won the first game 5-4

Game 1

"Matt (Bauer) pitched a great game," said Tracy Coach Bill Tauer. "He hit his spots and changed speeds. Offensively we hit the ball well as a team, collecting 10 hits."

Matt Bauer pitched all seven innings of the first game giving up 4 runs on 6 hits while walking 3 and striking out 11.

Andy Nelson led the 10 hit Tracy attack with three hits in three trips to the plate. Derrick Vandromme and Matt Bauer were both 2 for 4.

Game 2

Olivia won the second game 5-1.

"We completely fell apart in the second inning," said Tauer. "You cannot give any team 4 unearned runs. Derek ·(Daniels) and Luke (Walling) did a fine job on the mound for us. The heat started to affect the boys. Our kids were really slow in this game."

Derek Daniels started on the mound for Tracy and pitched 3 innings giving up 4 runs on only 1 hit while walking 3 and striking out 3. Luke Walling pitched the last 3 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2.
