Panther Boys Basketball Completes Summer Season

The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panther Boys Basketball team completed their summer camp/league season the last week of July. The Panthers summer program consisted of four teams. The Black team, which played in the Marshall Varsity League, on Wednesday nights, and -numerous weekend team camps. The Blue and Red teams, which played in the Marshall B-Squad League, on Monday nights, and numerous weekend team camps. The Select team was made up of players from all three teams (black, blue, and red) and they participated in the Bethany Lutheran College Team Camp in Mankato and in the Triple Threat Basketball Team Camp at Red Rock Central High School in Lamberton.

Along with a summer camp/league schedule that which included over 120 games between the four teams, the Panther Boys Basketball Program also conducted an open gym/team practice for two-plus hours, on Thursday nights for five weeks through June and July. The Panther Boys Basketball Program also held their second annual Sunday Might 3-on-3 League.

Participants in the Panther Summer League/Camps who were members of either the Black, Select, Blue, or Red teams were Seniors Chris Bangasser, Jason Heern, John Knott, Adam Louwagie, and Donald Strand. The junior class participants were Erik Frisvold, Gary Knott, Brad Lanoue, Derek Radke, and Chad Stibbe. The sophomore participants were Brady Jackson, Darin Louwagie, Kyle McIntire, Taylor Rignell, Nick Soupir, Kraig Van Kuelen, and Corey Wamer. The freshman participants were Anthony Dolan, John Gervais, Ryan Kaup, Drew Nelson, Steven Paradis, Andrew Prairie, David Schmidt, Ryan Thooft, and Spencer Zwaschka. The eighth grade participants were Isaac Dolan and Kane Zwaschka.


Golf Notes

There were 18 couples participating in the Couples Tournament last Saturday. In the championship flight Bruce Lerohl and Jeanette Hollingsworth finished in first place with a net score of 72 while Jim and Mary Munson and Ric and Lisa Sell tied for second with 73's. In the first flight Ken and Claudia Cravens were the winners with a 77, Teri Borchert and Dan Hasz were second with 81 and Bill and Gladys Kunze were third with an 83.

In the men's league championship match The Brau Haus won out over Cenex Harvest States by a score of 130-122. Scoring for the champions were Trever Brau with a 42, Todd Johnson with a 50, Ken Rechtzigel 45, Glen Bernardi 44. Scoring for Cenex Harvest States were Brian Ludeman 44, Bruce Lerohl 38, Dick Verlinde 45 and George Erbes 41.

There were20 golfers participating in the Senior Open last Thursday. In the championship flight the winner of the low gross was a tie between Dave Sogge and Ron Heidebrink. The winner of the low net was Roger Kiihn with a 66 and Gay Stone was second with a 67. In the first flight there was a tie for low gross between Darrel Janssen and Les Onken with scores of 94 while Dale Krog won the low net with a 67 and Carol Fales was second with a 69.


Fall sports meeting is Thursday

The annual Fall Sports Meeting will be held this Thursday, August 12 at the High School Cafeteria. Students in grades 7-12 who plan on playing a Fall Sport must attend. Male athletes will meet at 6:30 p.m. with the female athletes meeting at 7:30 p.m. This is an opportunity for you to pick up athletic forms, pay fees, meet the coaches etc.

The Panther Booster Club will also be at the meeting selling school calendars and memberships.
