Alma Galstad, 86

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 20, 2005 for Alma Galstad at Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy, MN. Rev. Kurt Kluge officiated. Organist was Lael Bahn.

Casket bearers were Eric Galstad, Mark Anderson, Jason Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Gregory Erdmann, Michael Erdmann, David Erdmann, Daniel Erdmann, Matthew Erdmann and Patrick Oehm.

Honorary casket bearers were Jennifer Knoebel, Larissa Mottl, Cheryl Allen, Julia Galstad and Kristin Erdmann.

Alma Catherine Galstad was born October 2, 1918 to Arne and Mary Elizabeth (Sharp) Iverson in Heron Lake, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Heron Lake Public Schools. Alma graduated in 1936 from Heron Lake High School and went on to attend Mankato State College for two years and received an Associate Degree in teaching. She then returned to her home area, teaching in Okabena Public Schools and Country School District #46.

On June 8, 1945 Alma married Edward H. Galstad in Northwood, IA and they made their home on a farm near Currie, MN. In 1993 they moved into Tracy and in January of 2004 Alma became a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy where she was active in the church women’s groups, holding various offices within these organizations. Alma enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes, crafts of many types, such as embroidery and sewing, but what she truly loved the most was her family. Spending time with all of them was her greatest joy.

On Thursday, June 16, 2005 Alma died at the Tracy Nursing Home at age 86.

Alma is survived by her two daughters, Catherine (Eugene) Anderson of Morris, MN and Elizabeth (Gary) Erdmann of Balaton, MN; three sons, John (Janice) Galstad of Worthington, MN, Stuart Galstad of Marshall, MN and James (Cindy) Galstad of Wichita, KS; 15 grandchildren, Eric Galstad, Jennifer (Peter) Knoebel, Mark Anderson, Jason (Laurie) Anderson, Larissa (Erik) Mottl, Jonathan (Patricia) Anderson, Gregory (Tonya) Erdmann, Cheryl (Scott) Allen, Michael (Karen) Erdmann, David (Stacy) Erdmann, Daniel Erdmann and fiance, Kelly Sievert, Matthew Erdmann, Kristin Erdmann, Julia Galstad and Patrick Oehm; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Mahlon Iverson of Heron Lake, MN; one sister Lillian Iverson of Fulda, MN; one sister-in-law, LuVerne Iverson of Omaha, NE; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, husband Edward, one brother, Alfred Iverson, and sister-in-law Bernadine Iverson preceded her in death.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery, Tracy, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling the arrangments.


Memorial service for Cecil Buzzell

A memorial service for Cecil Buzzell will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2005. The service is planned at 11 a.m. at the Tracy Presbyterian Church with lunch to follow.
