Helen Buterbaugh, 92

Helen Bertine Buterbaugh, age 92 of Walnut Grove passed away Sunday, September 25, 2005 at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. Visitation will be Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to Friday’s service at the church. Interment will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Walnut Grove Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Helen Bertine Buterbaugh was born March 5, 1913 in rural Walnut Grove, Minnesota to Ervin and Dora (Truedson) Swenson. She was the eldest of five children. She spent her entire life in the Walnut Grove area except for a few years spent in Minneapolis, MN.

Helen was united in marriage to Clarence Loren Buterbaugh in 1933 in Brookings, SD. They were blessed with two children: Galen and Errol. Helen was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. She participated in Ladies Aid and many other church activities until poor health prevented her involvement in the last few years of her life. She was particularly active in visiting church members and friends living in nursing homes and confined to their homes due to poor health. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening as well as other hobbies. Helen’s greatest interest was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons: Galen and wife Glenda Buterbaugh of Spokane, WA and Errol and wife Faye Buterbaugh of Aurora, SD; four grandchildren: Sandy (Chris) Nicol, Michael (April) Buterbaugh, Matthew Buterbaugh (special friend Robin) and Timothy Buterbaugh; three great-grandchildren: Amanda, Alyson and Matthew; and a sister Viona Foster of Tracy, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence on August 11, 1988; sister Jeanette Arnt; and brothers: Jerome Swenson and Donald Swenson.

LaVonne J. Van Meveren-Hyde

LaVonne J. Van Meveren-Hyde, age 67, of Katy, TX died Monday, August 8, 2005 in the MHHS Katy Hospital in Katy.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 1, 2005 at the Zion Lutheran Church, south of Balaton, MN.

The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy, MN is handling the arrangements.

Donald A. Lund

Memorial services for Donald A. Lund, age 83, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 1, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. Walnut Grove Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Don, formerly of Walnut Grove, passed away on Sept. 8, 2005 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
