Tracy hosts 212 meet Thursday

Tracy/Milroy/Balatonwill host the 212 Conference track meet Thursday. Field events begin at 4 p.m. The public is invited.

Panther tracksters tuned up for the meet with a meet Monday at Slayton. The girls were second and the boys sixth.

The Panthers’ Bobbi Jo Buyck was named the outstanding female athlete of the meet. Buyck placed first in the 100 Dash, first in the 200 Dash, first in the pole vault and second in the 100 Hurdles.

"Bobbi Jo (Buyck) had a big day," said Panther Assistant Coach Jenny Kirk. “She likely would have won the hurdles also but she and Veldhuizen were in adjacent lanes and they hooked arms on the second hurdle. TMB scored 2 runs in the first inning and 4 more in the second to take an early 6-0 lead.

Bauer pitched all 7 innings and gave up 5 runs (4 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 7 and walking 2.

The Panther baseball team won a well-played game, at Bird Island, Friday by a score of 2-1.

“Derek (Radke) pitched a nice game,” said Tauer. “ He really did a nice job of changing speeds and hitting his spots and we got the hits when we needed them.”

Radke pitched all seven innings, facing 31 hitters and giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 1 and walking 3.

Strand was 2 for 3 day at the plate with three stolen bases. Bauer was also 2 for 3 while David Schmidt, Derek Daniels, Paul Carlson and Erik Frisvold also had hits for T/M/B.
