VFW beats Granite 9-8

The Tracy VFW baseball team outlasted Granite Falls 9-8 in a game played at Tracy Tuesday evening. The win improved Tracy’s season record to 8-4 and they are now 4-2 in the District 3 North VFW standings.

Tracy won the defensive battle by committing only 4 errors to 5 for Granite Falls.

Isaac Dolan started on the mound for Tracy and pitched 5 1/3 solid innings while striking out 8 to get the win. He was relieved by Chris Swenson in the sixth inning. Swenson ran into immediate trouble and was replaced by Taylor Rignell who pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to get the save.

Tracy’s David McCoy hit a 2 run single for what proved to be the winning runs in the fifth inning. Tracy and Granite had 6 hits each.

Marshall capitalizes on walks

The Tracy VFW baseball team lost to Marshall Blue, at Marshall, last Wednesday evening 7-2.

“We took it on the chin against Marshall,” said Tracy Coach Bob Dolan. “Too many walks and extra’s. We gave them 9 walks and 1 hit batsman.”

Chris Swenson started on the mound for Tracy and took the loss. Taylor Rignell relieved Swenson in the fourth inning and Brian Schlager also pitched for Tracy.

Tracy got hits from Rignell, Swenson, David Schmidt, John Gervais, Casey Polzine and Kyle Frazer. Swenson’s hit was a double and Schmidt’s a triple.
