Monte Legion prevails, 7-1

Montevideo beat the Milroy Legion 7-1 at Montevideo Thursday night. The loss dropped Milroy’s season record to 5-5 and Montevideo improved its record to 5-3.

Monte got off to a 1-0 lead with a first inning run but Milroy tied the game with a run in the third inning. The game continued tied until Monte came up with three runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth to seal the win.

Anthony Rohlik started on the mound for Milroy, pitched all six innings and took the loss. Matt Bauer and Derek Radke led the Milroy six hit attack with a pair of hits while Sean Castle and Brett Jackson got the other Milroy hits.

VFW sweeps Olivia

The Tracy VFW baseball team swept Olivia with a pair of wins at Bird Island Tuesday evening. The scores were 4-1 and 14-7. The wins improved Tracy’s season record to 12-4.

Details of the games were not yet available as this issue of the Headlight Herald went to press. However was known that Isaac Dolan got the win in the first game by pitching a one hitter and Taylor Rignell got the win in the second game.

Casey Polzine led the Tracy offense with a two run single in the first game and Taylor Hagberg went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs batted in the second game.

Tracy will travel to Lamberton to play Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday.


Dolan, Rignell combine on two-hitter

The Tracy VFW baseball team beat Sacred Heart 5-2 at Tracy to improve to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in league play.

Sacred Heart scored first with a tally in the top of the third inning but Tracy came right back and scored two runs to take the lead in the bottom of the third. The visitors tied the score with a run in the top of the sixth inning and Tracy came right back to score three runs in the last of the sixth and won the game.

Anthony Dolan pitched the first four innings and Taylor Rignell came on in the fifth to relieve him and get the win. The two combined to hold Sacred Heart to only 2 hits.

Casey Polzine and Chris Swenson led the three-hit Tracy attack.
