Harold LaVoy, 76

Mass of Christian Burial for Harold LaVoy, 76, of Milroy, was held on Friday, April 21, 2006, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Milroy.

Harold Joseph LaVoy was born on December 16, 1929, in Green Valley to Arthur and Catherine (Paradis) LaVoy. He grew up and attended school in Cottonwood. Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean War.

On February 25, 1954, he was united in marriage to Rita Maeyaert in Ghent. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Cottonwood and Milroy areas. In 1994, they retired and moved into Milroy.

Harold enjoyed playing cards, rolle bolle, watching the Minnesota Twins, working with antique tractors and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Milroy and the American Legion Post #274 of Milroy.

He died on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Harold is survived by his wife Rita of Milroy, children Linda (Daniel) Dolan of Montevideo, Lois Schmidt of Tracy, Stephen (Janette) LaVoy of Tracy, Elaine (Randy) Tholen of Tracy, Ellen LaVoy of Tracy, Loraine (Ron) Rupp of Big Lake, Stanley LaVoy of Balaton, Arlene (Mike) Buysse of Minneota, Darlene (Patrick) Doom of Marshall, Joyce (David) Beebout of Marshall, Gary (Joan) LaVoy of Tracy, Glen (Kathy) LaVoy of Echo, Jason (Lezlie) LaVoy of Milroy, 32 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, brothers Earl (Marie) and James (Kate) LaVoy of Marshall, sisters June Boerboom of Tracy, Joan (Ike) Derynck of Marshall, Eleanor Boerboom of Brooklyn Center, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lawrence and grandchild Tanner LaVoy.

Interment followed the service at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery in Milroy. Military rites performed by the U.S. American Legion Post #274 of Milroy. Arrangements by Rehkamp & Horvath Funeral Directors of Marshall.
