Joseph Knutson, 50

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 26, 2006 for Joseph Knutson at Tracy Lutheran Church, Tracy, MN. Rev. Steven Quist officiated. Organist was Richard Stelter.

Casket bearers were Jesse Roby, Darren Thovsen, Chuck Dardis, Shawn Roberts, Mark Bailey and Greg Gottskalkson.

Joseph Melvin Knutson was born March 13, 1956 to Kenneth S. and Joanne (Tillman) Knutson at the Tracy Clinic Hospital in Tracy, Lyon County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating in 1975. After high school he enrolled in Canby Vocational Technical School in Canby, MN for Diesel Mechanics. Joe enlisted in the US Air Force and following his honorable discharge returned to Tracy, where he drove truck for several companies in the area.

On November 23, 1985 Joe married Sheri Rieger in Cook, NE and they made their home there for a short time. In 1987 they moved back to Tracy and Joe began driving truck for Koch Services of Marshall, MN shortly thereafter. His position currently was as an Operations Technician for Flint Hills Resources (formerly Koch Services) of Marshall for which he worked for the past 18 years.

Joe was a lifelong member of Tracy Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working on engines, word puzzles, such as crosswords and Suduko, motorcycles and playing pool.

On Tuesday, August 22, 2006 Joe died at his home in Tracy at the age of 50.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sheri Knutson of Cottonwood, MN; three daughters, Sarah, Jean and Anna Knutson of Cottonwood, MN; parents, Kenneth and Joanne Knutson of Tracy, MN; two sisters, Jodi (Pat) Lynch of Broomfield, CO and Leslie (Mike) Downing of Aitken, MN; one brother, Kim Knutson of St. Paul, MN; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Frances Rieger of Currie, MN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and the family dog, “Sammy.”

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.

Interment was at the Tracy City Cemetery, Tracy, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling the arrangements.
