Gladys L. Burda, 92

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 27, 2006 for Gladys L. Burda at First Presbyterian Church in Tracy, MN. Pastor David Erickson officiated. Organist was Richard Stelter.

Casket bearers were Tim Wolseth, Jeff Wolseth, Jacqueline Larson-Burda, Kim Bowman, Kristine Koenig and Lisa Laurence.

Gladys Leora (Hemmingsen) Burda was born January 11, 1914 to Lars and Nettie (Farlee) Hemmingsen near Primrose, NE. She was baptized in the Christian faith at Primrose Presbyterian Church and attended District #80 and #49 country schools near Primrose.

On May 8, 1937 Gladys married Kenneth Burda in Central City, NE. They made their home on a farm in Nebraska and moved to Garvin, MN in 1942.

Gladys worked at the Christian Manor Nursing Home for 10 years. She was a member of the Tracy Presbyterian Church since the early 1950’s, where she also taught Sunday School, was a member of the church women’s association, and served as secretary of the association.

In February Gladys entered the Sioux Valley Tracy Medical Center and on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 she became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center where she died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the age of 92.

Gladys is survived by one son, Darwin (Marilyn) Burda of Wassila, AK; two daughters, Darlene (Marvin) Sabinske of Garvin, MN and Judy (Ron) Wolseth of Maple Lake, MN; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, Kenneth, two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

Interment was in Tracy City Cemetery, Tracy, MN with the Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handling the arrangements.

Marvin Mentjes, 56

A memorial service for Marvin Mentjes will be conducted at O’Brien Court, Tracy, on Thursday, March 2.

The “celebration of life” service will begin at 2 p.m. Mentjes, 56, died on Feb. 20.
