TMB outscores Jays 40-1

Tracy/Milroy/Balaton outscored their opponent 40-1 Thursday to cruise to an easy sweep of an outgunned Central Minnesota Christian squad.

The Panthers won the first game 24-0, and the second 16-1.

“After the tough spring we’ve had with the weather and with not playing so well defensively, it sure was good to have nice weather and an easy time of it on the field,” said Panther Coach Dave Sogge. “We hit the ball well, and Ashlei changed speeds well and had good velocity. It was fun.”

Cassie Miller was 3 for 3 and drove in five runs in the first game. Stacy LaVoy and Mariah Schelhaas each had four RBIs. Alyssa Kirk and Bekah Zens had the only extra-base hits for the Panthers. Zens doubled in the second and Kirk had a two-run homer in the fourth.

Ashlei Carpenter was just two walks away from a perfect game as she no-hit the Blue Jays. Ten Jays struck out.

The Panthers scored 11 first-inning runs in the second game to continue their domination.. LaVoy had bases-loaded double in the second inning.

Elizabeth Rayman got the win for the Panthers. She gave up a single run in the first and then shut the Blue Jays out from there, giving up 2 hits, striking out 6 and walking none.

“I was so pleased with the defense today,” Sogge summed up. “We only had two errors for the day, and the pitchers walked only two. If we can do that consistently, we’ll be a team that can do some damage.”
