Panthers add one more win

The Panther baseball team used a make-up game from the first of the season to improve it’s lead in the Camden Conference with a 6-3 win over Lakeview at Tracy Tuesday. The win improved Tracy/Milroy/Balaton’s season record to 10-5 and to 7-2 in the conference.

The Panthers spotted Lakeview 3 runs in the first inning but Derek Radke and Matt Bauer combined to shut the door on the Lakers the rest of the way to get the win.

“It was a good win for us,” said young Abby Tauer as she delivered the play-book to this reporter in order to write up the game for this week’s paper.

Radke pitched the first 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on 5 hits while registering 6 strikeouts and 1 hit batter. Matt Bauer, who no hit the Lakers last week in Cottonwood, pitched the last 2 innings and gave up no runs on 2 hits while striking out 3 and walking 3. Cody Fruin pitched 6 innings for the Lakers and took the loss while giving up 6 runs on 7 hits while striking out 3 and walking 4.

Bauer also led the 7 hit Panther offense with a 3 for 3 day at the plate. Other hits were recorded by David Schmidt, Derek Daniels, Paul Carlson and Andy Nelson.
