Schlager pitches Tracy VFW to win

The Tracy VFW baseball team topped the Marshall Orange team 3-1 at Tracy Thursday.

“We (the Orange) played well but this is a very good Tracy team,” said Marshall Coach Jim Culhane. “It was a well played game.”

Marshall got off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning but the locals came back with two runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth.

Brian Schlager went the distance for Tracy, scatting five hits over seven innings. David Schmidt got two of Tracy’s five hits.

Tyler Gimmestad pitched the whole game for Marshall and took the loss.

Yankees bomb Atwater, 11-1

 

The Milroy Yankees baseball team beat Atwater 11-1 at Milroy Friday night after losing to Bird Island Wednesday night at Bird Island.

Ryan Rohlik, Brian Dolan and Nathan Deutz combined to throw a four-hitter at Atwater. The Milroy offense got 13 hits with Matt Bauer going 3 for 4, Andy Schmidt 3 for 5, Justin Schlemmer and Dean Zwach were 2 for 3 and Adam Schmidt was 2 for 4.

All-state academic

All-state academic

Two Panther softball players have been named to the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches’ Association’s All-State Academic Softball Team. Stacy LaVoy and Jackie Vroman were honored for earning high grade-point averages while being starters on the 2006 Tracy/Milroy/Balaton softball team. LaVoy played catcher and centerfield. Vroman was an infielder. Both were senior honor students.
