Win ushers in Christmas break

The Panther girls’ basketball team won over Lincoln H.I./Lake Benton 56-45 last Friday at Tracy. The win improved Tracy/Milroy/Balaton’s season record to 2-6 and they are now 1-3 in the Camden Conference. The Bobcats fell to 1-6 for the season.

The Panthers came out with good intensity, took good care of the ball and stormed to a 11-3 lead over the Bobcats. However the plucky Bobcats kept working hard and, with a last second field goal, pulled to within 31-28 at the half. The Bobcats came out firing in the early minutes of the second half and took their first and only lead of the game at 32-31 only to fall behind as T/M/B went on a 20-9 run to take charge of the game again.

“We played well in the early part of both the first and second halves,” said Panther Coach Ryan Kruse. “We did not play well on defense.”

Mallory Fultz led the scoring with 12 points and Ashley Kirk added 10. The Panthers pulled down 24 rebounds (Fultz 7, Kirk 6), had 8 assists (Kirk 3), 9 steals, 2 blocks and turned the ball over only 14 times.
