Joan Rollag, 40

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove, MN. for Joan Rollag. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and continuing one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Joan Sandra Rollag was born September 13, 1966 to Wesley and Alice (Pederson) Borah in Detroit Lakes, MN, Becker County. She was baptized on October 16, 1966 and confirmed on May 2, 1982 in the Lutheran faith. Joan attended Detroit Lakes Public Schools and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1985. She then attended Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, MN, for Interior Design. After college Joan returned to her home town and worked for the Emmanuel Nursing Home as a nursing assistant.

On November 19, 1988 Joan married Wade Rollag at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN, where they made their home for several years. They then moved to Russell, MN and Walnut Grove, MN before moving to Tracy, MN in 1999. While living in Russell Joan began working for Schwan Food Company in Marshall, MN. She then worked for the Tracy Nursing Home in Tracy until 2004 when her health required her to retire.

Joan was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove where she had taught Sunday School in the past. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for six years, a Service Unit Manager for the Girl Scouts and also a District Delegate. Joan enjoyed camping, working with the Girl Scouts, crafts, scrapbooking, photography and movies.

On Monday, May 21, 2007 Joan died at the Hospice House of Marshall, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 40.

Joan is survived by her husband, Wade Rollag of Tracy, MN; two daughters, Anna Leah and Katie Rollag of Tracy, MN; one son, Caleb Rollag of Tracy, MN; one brother, Wesley (Kim) Borah of Lake Park, MN; five sisters, Patricia (LeeRoy) Kind of Marysville, WA, Jane Christensen of Fargo, ND, Barbara (Mike) Wirth of Davenport, ND, Judy (Gary) Wenner of Burnsville, MN and Joyce (Bill) Johnson of Kingston, TN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her grandparents, parents, one son, Jared, twin daughters, Emily and Alaina, one brother, Joseph and one sister, Rebecca Borah preceded her in death.

Interment will be at the Tingvold Lutheran Cemetery near Fergus Falls, MN at 4:45 p.m. Thursday. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.


Leonard Alf

Leonard Alf of Moose Lake, MN and Quartzsite, AZ passed away on November 11, 2006 in Phoenix, AZ. He was a veteran of World War II where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart with three clusters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale.

He is survived by his wife Betty, son Loren of Northridge, CA, brother John (Shirley) of Tracy, MN, sisters Delores Dieken of Evans, CO, Florence Smith of Tracy, MN, Betty (Delbert) Kolbe of Mesa, AZ, Sandra (Steve) Myers of Buckley, WA.

There will be a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. on June 9th at the Covenant Church in Moose Lake, MN.
