Agnes Boever, 80

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove for Agnes Boever, age 80 of Walnut Grove. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4-7 at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home with a 6:30 prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Agnes Mae Boever was born February 21, 1927 in Lamberton, MN to Mello and Bertha (Kronbach) Burns. Agnes and her family lived in Lamberton where she was a graduate of the Lamberton High School. Agnes was united in marriage to John Boever on January 13, 1948 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. Agnes and John lived and farmed north of Walnut Grove in North Hero Township from 1948 until their retirement in 1983. They then moved to Walnut Grove where they have resided since. Agnes enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, decorating, crafts, motorcycling, snowmobiling, going to their cabin on Lake Shetek, and spending time with family and friends.

Agnes passed away Friday, June 8, 2007 at Our House of Murray County Hospice House in Slayton.

Agnes Mae Boever is survived by her husband John Boever; children: Patricia (Jim) Skewes of Marshall, MN, Judy (Ron) Spatafora of Dallas, TX, and Robert Boever and his fiancée Patricia of Eagan, MN; grandchildren: Sonja (Brian) Thoreen, Monique Skewes, Brandon (Lori) Skewes, Anita (Richard) Knight, and Joshua Boever; great grandchildren: Lydia, Zachary, Haley, Victoria, and Ethan; sisters: Sue (Ralph) Maidl and Betty (Lloyd) Gullickson; brothers: Mello (Mavis) Burns, Robert (Julie) Burns, Marvin (Donna) Burns, Duane (Nancy) Burns, Larry Burns, and Brian Burns; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: James, John, and Aaron, and her sister Margaret.

Interment is in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Walnut Grove. The Walnut Grove Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.


Scott Debbaut, 20

Mass of Christian Burial for Scott Debbaut, 20, of rural Milroy, was held on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy.

Scott Gregory Debbaut was born on December 2, 1986, in Marshall, to Greg and Wanda (Schmidt) Debbaut. He was Baptized on December 27, 1986, received First Communion on May 27, 1995, and Confirmed on May 19, 2004, all at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. Scott graduated from 8th grade in Milroy in May of 2001, and from Tracy High School in May of 2005. Scott participated on the Tracy Golf Team for six years and played football for one year.

He was a member of the Milroy Fire Department and worked at Hoffco in Wood Lake. Scott enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his friends.

He died as the result of an automobile accident on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in rural Milroy.

He is survived by his parents, Greg and Wanda Debbaut and brothers Mike (Nicole) and Adam Debbaut, all of rural Milroy, grandparents Elizabeth Schmidt of Morris and Delmar and Rosie Debbaut of Milroy, Aunts Karen Schmidt of Granite Falls, Diane Schmidt of Urbana, IL, Louann Debbaut of St. Paul, Uncles Raymond (Sue) Schmidt of Maple Grove, John (Jacque) Debbaut of Fairbanks, AK, cousins Jeff (Kirsten) Debbaut and Jacob Debbaut of Fairbanks, AK and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Leigh Schmidt, uncle Paul Debbaut and great-grandparents.

Interment followed the service at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Milroy with arrangements handled by the Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home.

Memorials preferred to Milroy Fire Department.


Grace Grunerud, 86

Grace G. Grunerud age 86 of Tracy, MN died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Sanford-Tracy Medical Center. Services were held on May 25, 2007 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy.

Grace Gertrude Grunerud was born April 5, 1921 to Samuel W. and Maggie L. (Meek) Knack in Newport, WA. She grew up on the Rocklyn farm near Davenport, WA where she attended public school and graduated from Davenport High School. Grace then attended Eastern Washington State College for two years.

On February 24, 1942 Grace married Gerald B. Grunerud at her parent’s home. They made their home in Davenport, then four years in Connell, WA before moving back to the family farm in 1955. They retired and moved into Davenport in 1991.

For several years, Grace delivered service with a smile at the Davenport Post Office where she worked as a postal clerk. After her husband’s death in 1999, she continued to live in her home in Davenport, but in 2003 Grace moved to Tracy, MN to be near her daughter and her family.

Grace was a warm, down to earth person with a ready laugh. She was active in the Methodist Church, TOPS, and loved to go on trips, whether to visit the kids and grandkids in Colorado, Minnesota or relatives in Canada, Steam Engine Shows or just go for a scenic Sunday drive.

On Wednesday, May 23, 2007 Grace died at the Sanford-Tracy Medical Center at the age of 86.

Grace is survived by her one daughter, Judy (Howard) Hamilton of Currie, MN; one son, Blaine (Helga) Grunerud of Lakewood, CO; four grandchildren, Brian Hamilton of Shakopee, MN, Brenda Madsen of Fairmont, MN, Paula Dovre of Minneota, MN and Kristen Grunerud of Ft. Collins, CO; seven great grandchildren, Scott, Dayna and Connor Madsen, Erik, Alex and Leah Hamilton and Autumn Grace Dovre.

Her parents, husband, Jerry and one sister, Ruth preceded her in death.

Interment was at the Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport, WA on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.


Donna Kathman, 76

Donna Mae Kathman age 76 of St. James, MN, formerly of Tracy, MN died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye, MN. A visitation was held on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy.

Donna Mae Kathman was born May 2, 1931 to Ray and Louise (Gilb) Hanson in Tracy, MN, Lyon County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Tracy and attended Tracy Public Schools. As a young woman she worked at the Tracy Poultry Company.

On July 26, 1947 Donna married Junior J. Kathman in Tracy at the Trinity Lutheran Church and they made their home in Tracy. In 1969 they moved to St. James, MN and she worked in the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center, in housekeeping. They moved to Butterfield, MN in 1970 and then back to St. James in 1989.

Donna was a past member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Tracy and a current member of the First Lutheran Church in St. James, where she had been active in the church women’s groups over the years. She enjoyed fishing, Polka music, rummage sales, taking drives almost anywhere and attending her son’s softball games, but her real enjoyment was spending time with her family.

In April of 2007 Donna became a resident of the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye, MN where she died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the age of 76.

Donna is survived by her husband, Junior Kathman of Sleepy Eye, MN; one daughter, Renee (Jeff) Sorbel of Elysian, MN; three sons, Jerome (Sandy) Kathman of Milbank, SD, Keith (Robin) Kathman of Fairmont, MN and Scott (Terra) Kathman of New Ulm, MN; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Noreen) Hanson of Tracy, MN; one sister, Alice Cowell of Butterfield, MN; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Nelson of Colman, SD; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, one son, Kenneth, one brother, Lennis, one sister, Doreen Nelson and one brother-in-law, Leo Cowell preceded her in death.

A private family interment will take place later in the week at the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
