Gordon Enemark, 94

Funeral services for Gordon Enemark of Tracy, formerly of Tyler and Walnut Grove will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. Rev. Bonnie Lomen and Rev. Steve Carmany will officiate.

Active casketbearers are his grandchildren. Honorary casketbearers are Les Sanderson, LeRoy Knudsen, Darrel Denney, Tom Alleckson, Ron Kuehl and Glen Meyer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Tyler Area Funeral Home in Tyler, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church in Walnut Grove one hour prior to the service.

Gordon John Enemark was born September 11, 1912, south of Lamberton, in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Max and Lida (Nelson) Enemark. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school one year in Dist. #38 and graduated from Lamberton High School. Following graduation he farmed for nine years with his father. In 1939 he began working at the elevator in Lamberton.

Gordon was united in marriage to Elaine Albertson on August 19, 1939. He worked at Standard Oil in Lamberton as a bulk oil agent. In 1946 they moved to Tyler where he opened a Standard Oil bulk oil business. He retired in 1972. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and they wintered in Arizona for several years. Elaine passed away in February 21, 1985. He served as a member of First English Lutheran Church Council, the church building committee, and on the Danebod Village Board. Gordon was a charter member of the Tyler Kiwanis Club, and a member of the Walnut Grove Lions Club. Gordon moved to Walnut Grove when he married Dorothy Cazett on Nov. 23, 1985. They lived in Walnut Grove until January 1999, when he and Dorothy moved to O’Brien Court Apartments in Tracy, where he lived until his death. Gordon was an avid reader, loved “Twins” baseball, and his passion was crossword puzzles. His family was very important to him, and he especially enjoyed visiting and sharing laughter with friends and family.

Gordon John Enemark passed away on January 14, 2007 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 94 years, 4 month and 3 days.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children John (Mary) of Tucson, AZ , Paul (Alva) of Tyler, Ralf (Christy) of Kewanee, IL and Faye(Loren) Johnson of Tyler; stepchildren Harry (Marlene) Cazett, Charlene (Bob) O’Donnell; Nine grandchildren: Eric, Paul and Ruth Enemark, Gloria Johnson and Mark Enemark, Emily and Jason Enemark and Karla and Marie Johnson; Step grandchildren Julie (Gilb) Nelson, Daniel Gilb and Randall Gilb; 9 great grandchildren ; 5 step great grandchildren and 7 step great-great grandchildren

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Elaine, sister Margie Christensen , daughter-in-law Bev Enemark, step-son Luverne Gilb and one step great grandchild.

Burial will be in the Lamberton Cemetery with the Tyler Area Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.


 

Katherine, Sanow, 68

Funeral services were held Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Tracy United Methodist Church in Tracy for Katherine Sanow.

Katherine “Kate” Mae Sanow was born May 11, 1938 to Harry and Jennie Haney in Slayton, MN, Murray County. She was baptized in the Christian faith and attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating from Tracy High School in 1956.

On September 1, 1956 Kate married Vernon Sanow Sr. at the Church of Christ in Tracy and they moved to Marshall, MN in 1957. She worked at Marshall Foods from 1963 until 1976, when they moved back to the Tracy area on a farm. Kate then went to work for Schwan’s in Marshall where she was employed for sixteen years. After her retirement Kate became self-employed recovering furniture, making bean bag games and pontoon covers until her health failed.

Kate was a member of the Church of Christ in Tracy and loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed having others over for coffee, playing yard games, such as bean bag toss, Dimes, cooking and time spent with her grandchildren.

On Wednesday, January 10, 2007 Kate died at the Tracy Area Medical Services at the age of 68.

Kate is survived by her husband, Vernon Sanow Sr. of Tracy, MN; two daughters, Deb (Mark) Magnuson of Cold Springs, MN and Tammy (Kevin) Hoflock of Tracy, MN; four sons, Vernon “Shorty” (Cindy) Sanow Jr. of Garvin, MN, Jerry (Kim) Sanow of Tracy, MN, Marvin “Louie” (Mary) Sanow of Tracy, MN and Scott “Whitey” (Julie) Sanow of Garvin, MN; one foster son, Pat (Dyann) McCarthy of Lake Benton, MN; her mother, Jennie Haney of Tracy, MN; two sisters, Harriet (George) Reese and Lorraine (Orville) Wigen both of Tracy, MN; one brother, Alan Haney of Tracy, MN; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a great many friends.

Her father, infant daughter, Kelly, infant brother, John and one sister, Jeannette Rykhus preceded her in death.

Interment was at the Tracy City Cemetery in Tracy with the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy handling the arrangements.


 

Bernice Neuman, 85

Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Neuman, 85, of Cottonwood, was held today, Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood.

Bernice Marie (Wyffels) Neuman was born on September 23, 1921, in Ghent to Charles and Mary (DeSutter) Wyffels. She grew up and attended school in Ghent.

Bernice was united in marriage to Clarence Neuman on September 11, 1942. The couple farmed and raised their family near Cottonwood. Bernice’s family was her first love. She was also very strong in her faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, raising chickens, traveling and listening to country music.

Bernice died on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at the Tracy Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter Donna Bjorklund of Tracy, daughter-in-law Josephine Neuman of Marshall, 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one brother Wayne Wyffels of Minneota, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, one daughter, three sisters and one great-grandson.

Interment followed the service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Cottonwood. The Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral of Marshall handled the arrangements.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Building Fund.


Wanda ‘Dale Wood’ Goettig, 54

Graveside services for Wanda Dale Wood Goettig were Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Michi Healy officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA

Goettig was born Dec. 1, 1952 and passed away Dec. 12, 2006.

She was a retail clerk, an avid pool player and lover of animals.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Grant Wood and her father Bill Wood.

She is survived by her twin sister, Gail Townsend, her husband, James, one godchild, Debbie Turnage and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
