Wilma Furan, 87

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Tracy Lutheran Church in Tracy, for Wilma Furan.

Wilma Juanita Furan was born on May 26, 1919 to Mark and Minnie (Camedy) Buzzell on a farm south of Tracy, MN, Murray County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Tracy Public Schools, graduating in 1937 from Tracy High School. As a young woman she worked as a waitress in Tracy.

On July 25, 1942 Wilma married Ernest L. Furan in Tacoma, WA and they made their home there until her husband’s discharge from the service when they moved to Tracy in 1946. In 1950 they moved to a farm in the Miltona, MN area and in 1976, shortly after her husband’s death, Wilma moved back to Tracy. Wilma continued working part-time as a house keeper for several people in Tracy until her retirement.

Wilma was a member of the Tracy Lutheran Church and was active in the churches women’s groups over the years. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crafts, crocheting and quilting. Wilma was also active in the Tracy Senior Center where she volunteered for many things and took part in many activities.

In December of 2006 Wilma became a resident of the Cambridge Heath Care Center in Cambridge, MN where she died January 18, 2007 at the age of 87.

Wilma is survived by her one daughter Joanne Kloos of Braham, MN; one son, Randy Furan of Zimmerman, MN; one daughter-in-law, Mary Furan of Elk River, MN; three grandsons, Steven and Eddie Kloos and Eric Furan; two granddaughters, Heidi Furan and Maria Dow of New York, NY; one great grandson, Levi Kloos; four brothers, Leland (Eileen) Buzzell of Bettendorf, IA, Walter (Ruth) Buzzell of Salem, OR, Wayne Buzzell of Mountain Home, AR and Donald (Patricia) Buzzell of St. Cloud, MN; one sister-in-law, Shirley Buzzell of Tracy, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents, husband, Ernest, two sons, John and Harold, one son-in-law, Vernlyn Kloos, five sisters, Corinne Eblund, Rosamond Otto, Elsie Guimond, Nona Kremer and Dorothy Rykhus, and two brothers, Cecil and Charles Buzzell preceded her in death.

Interment was at the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.


Lanita Krieg, 88

Funeral services are scheduled for Lanita Krieg, age 88 of Tracy, for Monday, January 29, 2007, 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy. Visitation will be Sunday, January 28, 2007 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Almlie Funeral Home in Tracy and continuing 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Interment will be at Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling services

Lanita passed away at her apartment at O’Brien Court on Tuesday, January 23, 2007.


 

Dr. John Schotzko, 73

Memorial services were held on Fri., Jan. 19, 2007 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, MN for Dr. John Schotzko. Dr. Schotzko died Jan. 16 at his home in Wabasha.

John was born in 1933 in Springfield, MN attended school in Springfield graduating in 1951. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from the U of M Medical School in 1967, was a Family Practice Doctor in Bue Earth, MN for 20 years and served as County Coroner and on the Hospital Board, was an Associate Clinical Professor for the U of M Rural Physician Program.

In 1988 he moved to St. Paul and started Locum Tenums work traveling to 30 communities in MN and WI filling in for physician vacations or vacancies. His longest stays were in Granite Falls and Wabasha, MN.

Retiring in 2001 from medicine, he enjoyed woodworking, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, daughters, Molly (Joe) Halls, Faribault, Jonna (Jason) Math, Medford, sons, Clay (Ivan)(Nunez) Schotzko, Minneapolis, Lee (Andrea) Schotzko, Afton, six grandchildren, brother Ted (Janet) Schotzko, Tracy, sister Barbara (David) Toombs, Rosemount.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
