Victoria Pinley, 69

Victoria Della (Garrow) Pinley age 69 of Sebring, FL, formerly of Marshall, MN died Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Town and Country Hospital in Tampa, FL. A graveside committal service was held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Tracy City Cemetery in Tracy, MN. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Victoria was born to Wilfred J. and Della (Lee) Garrow on July 11, 1938 in Lake Benton, MN. At the age of six she moved with her family to Marshall, MN where she attended school. She is survived by three sons, Wayne (Mary) Satre, Minneapolis, MN, James (Julie) Satre, Stanley, WI and Robert Satre, Minneapolis, MN. Two daughters, Denise (Joe) Newsome, Enterprise, AL, and Rebecca (John) Krogulski, Belleville, WI. 12 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 3 step great- grandchildren. Nine sisters, Edith Paul, Tracy, MN, Mary Ann Peterson, Redwood Falls, MN, Alma Letzring, Omaha, NE, Grace Britton, Syracuse, NY, Ruth (Sylvester) Frietag, Fairfax, MN, Blanche (Lawrence) Filter, Marshall, MN, Gladys (Donald) Mead, Sioux Falls, SD, Cecelia (Frank) Sanow, Marshall, MN, and Charolette (Donald) Kindt, Estelline, SD, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin boys, a brother, Joseph Garrow, a sister, Francis Mosing, and two half sisters, Edna and Alice.


Larry Swanson, 56

Services were held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Victory Christian Church in Balaton for Larry Swanson of Balaton. Larry Allan Swanson was born September 29, 1951 to Elmer and Phyllis (Nott) Swanson in Willow Lake Township, near Clements, MN, Redwood County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith and attended Balaton Public Schools, graduating from Balaton High School in 1969. Larry then attended Barber School for one year in Sioux Falls, SD. He then did his apprenticeship in Phillip, SD, before working in barber shops in numerous locations. During that time he owned and operated a barber shop in Slayton, MN, and then in Balaton until 1992. On June 26, 1982 Larry married Lori Rand at the Balaton United Methodist Church and they made their home in Balaton. In 1990 Larry went back to school at the Mankato Technical School for a two year degree in Civil Engineering. He then worked for Murray and Lincoln Counties as a civil engineer and also with Dunnick Brothers of Prinsburg, MN. He also drove TMB School activities bus and helped his son, now and then, with his construction business. Larry was a member of the Balaton United Methodist Church, and the Minnesota Coon Hunters Association. He operated a kennel called Dakota Kennels, specializing in Treeing Walkers. He loved his dogs of which he currently owned six, and he also enjoyed playing his guitar, running his dogs, hunting, gardening, collecting stringed musical instruments and chasing around with his grandchildren. On Tuesday, October 23, 2007 Larry died at the Sanford-Sioux Valley Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 56. Larry is survived by his one son, Tim (Erin) Swanson of Tracy, MN; two daughters, Megan (Jacob) Gernentz and McKenzie Swanson, both of Balaton, MN; four grandchildren, Jada, Brianna, Dominic and Hailey; parents, Elmer and Phyllis Swanson of Balaton, MN; four brothers, Daniel (Carol) Swanson of Janesville, MN, Bradley (Angie) Swanson of Savage, MN, John (Becky) Swanson of Tracy, MN and Duane Swanson of Long Prairie, MN; one sister, Janet (Jason) Donner of Aitken, MN; step-grandmother, Iris Nott of Clements, MN; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. His paternal grandparents and maternal grandmother preceded him in death. Interment was at the Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton. The Almlie Funeral Home of Balaton handled the arrangements.
