Lucille Carter, 89

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 29, 2007 for Lucille Carter at Tracy Presbyterian Church. David Erickson officiated the service. Organist was Wendy Steffen.

Pallbearers were Tom Carter, Steve Carter, Chuck Peltola, Allen Prouty, Wayne Jensen and Steve Zens.

Lucille Carter was born on March 15, 1917 on a farm in Holly Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Albert and Josephine Staalle Foster. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On April 5, 1936, she and Leslie (Bub) Carter were married at Walnut Grove. Following their marriage they lived in Shetek Township for a few years then moved into Currie. They then started a gravel business and ran that until 1976 when they sold it to their son, Wayne.

Bub passed away on November 25, 1988. Lucille continued living in Currie. She became a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home in 1997. In December 2006 Lucille moved to the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy.

Lucille passed away on January 25, 2007 at the Tracy Hospital in Tracy, MN at the age of 89. She was a member of the Currie Presbyterian Church and belonged to the UPW. Lucille enjoyed bowling, gardening, and working jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include one son, Wayne, and his wife, Joanne Carter of Currie, two grandsons; Tom Carter of Dallas TX, and Steve Carter and his wife, Amy of Denver, CO; two great grandchildren, Jane Carter and Ben Carter, two sisters and their spouses, Lorraine and Leo Schultz of Seattle, WA, and Lavonne and Cletus Morin of Bothell, WA, one sister-in-law, Betty Foster of Tracy, MN and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husband, Bub, three brothers, Reuben, Glen, and Keye Foster, one sister, Laverne Raunhorst.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery with the Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton handling the arrangements.


 

Mabel Dahl, 90

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 for Mabel Dahl, formerly of Tracy, at First Lutheran Church of Crystal in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Mabel was born on April 6, 1916 in Marshall, MN to Joe and Bertha Johnson. She was married to Arden Dahl in September of 1933 in Cottonwood, MN then moved to Tracy in 1945, where they raised their family. Mabel continued to live in Tracy until she moved to Minneapolis recently.

She is survived by her son Robert (Marilyn) of Edina; daughter, Janet (Kenneth) Howe, of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Patty Peterson, Jenny Sidell, Brad Dahl, Geoff Dahl, Michael Howe, David Howe; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Daisy Schmitt and Ruby Moody; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mabel is preceded in death by her husband, Arden Dahl; sister, Ruth Johnson, brothers, Earl and Harold.

Interment was held on Monday, January 29, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Cottonwood, MN. Services were handled by Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel of Robbinsdale, MN.


 

Lanita Krieg, 88

Lanita Krieg age 88 of Tracy, MN died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at her apartment in O’Brien Court. Services were held Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy.

Lanita Johannah Krieg was born May 15, 1918 to William and Wilhehmina (Wittenberg) Uetzmann in New Ulm, MN, Brown County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended St. Peters Lutheran School in Gibbon, MN.

On April 29, 1937 Lanita married Edward F. Krieg at the St. Peters Lutheran Church in Gibbon and they made their home in Tracy, MN. Lanita worked as a bookkeeper for many years at her husband’s implement dealership, Ruthenbeck & Krieg.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Tracy and active in the church women’s groups. Lanita enjoyed gardening and was a member of a flower club for many years, she also enjoyed needle work, Bridge and card club, and traveling with her husband to Mesa, AZ where they wintered for 25 years.

Several years ago Lanita and her husband moved into The O’Brien Court Apartments in Tracy, where she died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the age of 88.

Lanita is survived by her one daughter, Geraldine (Roger) Jensen of Slayton, MN; two sons, E. William (Claudia) Krieg of Scottsdale, AZ and Kenneth R. Krieg of Albert Lea, MN; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Verona Rodewald of Gibbon, MN; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Low of Austin, MN; nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, Eddie, one daughter-in-law, Irene, two sisters, Hannah Schwecke and Frieda Seltz and three brothers, Fred, Clarence and Roland preceded her in death.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.


 

Clarence Paradis, 79

Clarence “Clem” Paradis, age 79, of Marshall, passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls on Sunday, January 28, 2007. Funeral services will be today, Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery.

Clarence was born to Wilfred and Mary (Bruce) Paradis on January 7, 1928 in Green Valley. MN. He attended, was baptized, confirmed, and had first communion at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley.

After he served in the Air Force in World War II, Clem drove truck and worked for Green Valley Elevator, Walt Jacobs Truck, Smith’s Trucking, Johnson Leasing, Asphalt Supply, and MOB Trucking.

Clem had reached the age of 79 years and 21 days.

He is survived by his children, Mitch (and Mary) Paradis of Newton, KS, Randy Paradis of Green Valley, Becky (and Jim) Turbes of Boone, IA, Cindy (and Shorty) Sanow of Garvin, MN, and Jim (and Sue) Paradis of Marshall; grandchildren, Mallory, Missy, Toby, Jake, and Megan Paradis, Treig and Tori Sanow, and Chris and Jamie Turbes; sisters, Barbara Schultz of Tracy, MN; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Paradis of Marshall and Irene Richardson of Alexandria, MN.

He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Paradis; brother, Bruce Paradis; sisters, Bunny Williams and Arlene Compton; and his parents.

Clem’s enjoyments in life were gardening (tomatoes), hunting, watching TV, and being with family and friends.


 

Jeremy Thovson, 32

Jeremy J. Thovson age 32 of Tracy, MN died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy. Services were held Tuesday. January 30, 2007 at Tracy Lutheran Church.

Jeremy Jacob Thovson was born September 15, 1974 to Dale Thovson and Julie (Newton) Roby in Clearlake SD, Deuel County. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and lived for a short time in Gary, SD. As a young boy, he moved with his mother to Tracy, MN where he attended Tracy Public Schools. Jeremy graduated from Tracy High School in 1994.

He grew up loving the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, water skiing, snowmobiling, and dirt bike riding. Listening to music was also a big part of his life. Jeremy will always be remembered as a loving grandson, son and brother to his family.

In 1991, as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident, Jeremy became a resident of the Prairie View Healthcare Center in Tracy, MN where he died on Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the age of 32.

Jeremy is survived by his mother, Julie Roby of Marshall, MN; his father, Dale Thovson of Canby, MN; step-father, Jesse Roby of Tracy, MN; two brothers, Leroy Thovson of Minneapolis, MN and Darren (Amy Hengel) Thovson of St. Cloud, MN; maternal grandparents Jacob and Joyce Newton of Russell, MN; step-grandparents, Donald and Julie Roby of Garvin, MN; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.

His brother, Mathew Roby, grandparents, W. Edward and Agnes Thovson and cousin, Eric Roby preceded him in death.

Interment was in the Tracy City Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy.


 

Zoe Wilson, 84

Zoe Henrica Nathalia Wilson, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born July 26, 1921, in Flandreau, South Dakota, to Ivo Cyriel and Anna (Onderbecke) DeWitte. She was a bookkeeper at Culpeppers Furniture Store for many years and a member of the Lutheran faith. She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was interested in CB radios, police scanners, needle point, and crocheting.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter Thomas Persoon, one brother, and one grandson, Mark Wayne McCoy.

She is survived by son, Robert John Persoon and wife Candice of Billings, Montana; daughters, Marlene Jacqueline McCoy and husband Edward of Tracy, Minnesota, Rita Persoon McCarty of Baytown, TX, sister, Betty Lou Litka of Pipestone, Minnesota, grandchildren, Lori Dagel and husband Wayne, Denise King and husband Kevin, Ricci McCarty, and Jim Persoon, great grandchildren, Brent, Jared, and Nicholas Dagel, and Amber Wilson, great-great grandchildren, Joseph and Isaac Dagel, and numerous cousins and other family members in Belgium.
