Kimby Elizabeth (DeVetter) Daniels was born July 24, 1955 at Tracy, MN the daughter of Charles and Sharon (Vershey) DeVetter. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1973 and then attended St. Cloud State University and Mankato State University. Kim was united in marriage with Steven Daniels on March 21, 1975 at Tracy, MN. They lived in Tracy before moving to Montevideo in 1981. They lived in Austin, MN from 1985-90 before returning to Montevideo.
Kim was popular in high school enjoying theater, the arts, music and school life in general. Throughout her life she continued to participate in these areas of interest at home, at work, and as a frequent volunteer. She particularly enjoyed working with and entertaining children. She focused her high energy, talent, and creativity on her husband, four children and two grandchildren. In her own written words recently found: “I took the wife and mother job and ran with it... I work so hard at being the best wife, mother, volunteer there ever was.” She leaves us many memories of children’s plays, puppet shows, and other volunteer roles. Many of her talents are displayed in seasonal wreaths hanging in homes, stain glass projects, banners in church, furniture and a variety of children’s things. Her interests also included reading, cooking, sewing, gardening, and decorating. Kim’s children and grandchildren were “the joy of my life”. She also enjoyed entertaining “with some flare” a large family including grandparents, parents, in-laws, brothers and spouses, nieces and nephews, her children and their partners and spouses, as well as friends. She loved them all. Kim chose employment outside her home different times in her life in a variety of positions and again “ran with it” utilizing her talents at each job and was appreciated by her peers. Throughout her life, her faith in God guided her to be the person she was. A frequent comment of Kim by family and friends is she was a very special person ... and she is!
