James Fritz, 79

James Fritz of Walnut Grove, formerly of Lake Shetek passed away on February 18, 2007 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at IHM Church in Currie, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Totzke Funeral Home in Slayton and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Currie, MN.

James Fritz was born on February 16, 1928 in Redwood Falls, MN to Frank and Hazel Cain Fritz. He grew up in Lewiston, MN and attended school there. James moved to Currie in 1944 with his family and graduated from the Tracy High School in 1946. On August 28, 1949 he and Patricia Hess were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie, MN. James served in U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952. Following their marriage they lived in Windom, MN where he worked for the DNR. They then moved to Walnut Gove and later moved to Lake Shetek while operating the Tracy and Walnut Grove bakeries. In 1984 they retired from the Tracy bakery. They moved to Tracy in 2004. Due to failing health they moved to Walnut Grove, MN in 2006. James passed away on February 18, 2007 at the Royal C. Johnson Memorial Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 79.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie. He also served on the Murray County Zoning Commission from 1980 to 2001. He also belonged to the Walnut Grove Lions Club, Walnut Grove Community Club, Currie American Legion, Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Fritz of Walnut Grove, MN, three children and their spouses, Mike and Susan Fritz of Currie, MN, JoAnn and Jeff Bertschi of Walnut Grove, MN and Jill and Ken Kaduce of Winnebago, MN; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, David Fritz of, MN and Scott Fritz and his wife, Margie of, MN and one sister, Joan Shipley and her husband, Bob of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents.

The Totzke Funeral Home of Slayton is handling the arrangements.


 

Frances Hyatt, 86

Frances Hyatt, 86 of Tracy, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at the Sanford Medical Center in Tracy.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Friday one hour prior to the service. Tracy Area Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
