Lois Elliott, 86
Lois G. Elliott age 86 of Tracy passed away on Thursday,
March 6, 2008 at Birchwood Hospice in Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March
15th at the Presbyterian Church in Tracy. Visitation
will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the
Tracy Area Funeral Home, and will continue one hour
prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment
is in the Tracy Cemetery. Email condolences may

Lois G. Elliott was born August 15, 1921 in Milroy,
Minnesota to Earl and Ethel Mitcheltree. She was
raised in the Milroy and Tracy area and graduated
from Tracy High School in 1939.
Lois married Leonard Elliott on April 9, 1945. They
lived in Minneota and Tracy until moving to the
farm near Balaton where they farmed for 25 years.
They then moved to Tracy where she was still residing
until recently when she was in Hospice at her daughter’s
home and then moved to Birchwood Hospice House in
Hutchinson where she passed away. Lois was an active
member of the Presbyterian Church in Tracy for many
years. She loved crocheting, sewing, gardening,
quilting, spending time with her 6 great-grandchildren,
4 grandchildren and most of all having the coffee
pot on when her friends and family stopped by.
Lois is survived by her 2 children, Bob (Jean) Elliott
of Hutchinson and Bettie (Greg DeWitte) Palmer of
Hutchinson; 4 grandchildren: Jennie (Jason) Stutsman
of Winsted, Natasha (Ernst) Freyer of Burnsville,
Jess (Nikki) Elliott of Savage, Nikki (Todd) Matheson
of Winsted; 6 great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Kyleigh,
Emma, Porter, Jack, Sam; and numerous other relatives
and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard
in 1979; infant daughter Darlene; her parents; and
her brother Ausby Mitcheltree. She will be forever
in our hearts as a wonderful mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother.
Nellie Snobl, 86
Nellie Snobl, age 86, of rural Mahnomen, Minnesota,
died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at her home.
Nellie is survived by five sons: James (Sharon)
Sims of Thief River Falls, MN, Daniel (Mary) Snobl
of Tracy, MN, John (Barbara) of Bagley, MN, Jerry
(Linda) Snobl of Dixon, MO, and Douglas (Marlee)
of Fisher, MN; two daughters, Carol (Ricky) Locker
of Hot Springs, AR, and Dixie (Bill) Johnson of
Anaconda, MT; 28 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren;
and one sister, Ceceil Small of Hot Springs, AR.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, March 11,
2008 at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen.
Interment will take place in Hot Springs,
AR.

Mildred Saxton, 89
Funeral services for Mildred M. Saxton, 89, of Garvin
were held Monday, March 10 at Garvin Congregation
Church in Garvin.
Mildred Minnie Saxton was born April 28, 1918 to
Henry R. and Emma (Nieland) Snyder on the family
farm in Clifton Township, Lyon County, MN. She was
baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and
attended Country School District #28. Millie then
attended Marshall High School, graduating in 1935.
As a young woman she worked in the ASCS office and
then for the Lyon County Co-op Oil Company, as a
bookkeeper, in Marshall, MN.
On November 3, 1945 Mildred married Delmar Saxton
at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Walnut
Grove, MN. They made their home on a farm south
of Garvin, near Lake Shetek, until 1982 when they
retired and moved into Garvin. In June of 2005 Millie
became a resident of the Tracy Nursing Home and
in December of 2006 she moved into Prairie View
Healthcare Center.
Millie was a member of the Garvin Congregational
Church where she was very active in the churches
women’s groups, serving as treasurer for the
Women’s Fellowship for many years and as a
Deaconess in the church. She also served as treasurer
for the Garvin American Legion Auxiliary, was a
member of the Degree of Honor Lodge and was part
of a Bunko Club. Millie enjoyed playing cards, gardening,
and crafts. She will be greatly missed by her family
for her wonderful baking.
On Friday, March 7, 2008 Millie died at the Prairie
View Healthcare Center in Tracy at the age of 89.
Millie is survived by her one step-son, Jerry (Carol)
Saxton of Randall, MN; four step-daughters, Lois
(Wayne) Elliott of Shakopee, MN; Norma (Dick) Baird
of Crystal, MN, Valerie Barwin of Crystal, MN and
Hazel Petit of Tracy, MN; one step-daughter-in-law,
Peggy Saxton of Tracy, MN; one step-son-in-law,
Wayne Elliott of Shakopee, MN; seventeen grandchildren;
thirty one great grandchildren; fifteen great-great
grandchildren; one brother, Warren (Dorothy) Snyder
of Paynesville, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband, Delmar, parents, one step-son, Delmer
Saxton Jr., two step-sons-in-law, Robert Barwin
and Doug Petit, four brothers, and one sister preceded
her in death.
Burial was in the Hoiland Cemetery in rural Garvin.
The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy handled the arrangements.
